Newspaper weaving is one of the lowest cost hobbies. In order to get down to business, you need newspapers or magazines, as well as scissors, PVA glue and a bamboo stick, which can be replaced with a knitting needle or any similar item.

When choosing a newspaper, you need to take into account: the larger the format of the newspaper, the longer and stronger the tube will turn out, which is important when making voluminous crafts - baskets, trays. For weaving small panels or photo frames, it is better to use small-format prints so that the craft does not turn out to be cumbersome.

To make the tubes, the newspaper must be cut into strips 7-10 cm wide. Then, attach the corner of the newspaper strip to the needle at an angle of 10 ° -15 ° and begin to twist tightly, doing it very carefully, supporting the edges, otherwise the strip may break. To provide a more convenient connection between the tubes, one end of the tube should be wider than the other. When the strip is completely wound, you need to glue the remaining corner with PVA glue, press it for a few seconds and pull the needle out of the tube.

If you plan to make a colored product, then it is better to paint at this stage. The easiest way to do this is with wood stain. If you pour it into any container, then you can paint almost all newspaper tubes in one fell swoop. But a true folk craftsman does not live by a single stain; food colors, various types of paints and even brilliant green are also used!

To facilitate the learning process of weaving, novice craftsmen can decorate an ordinary cardboard box. In this case, there is no need for complex weaving of the bottom, most often only the side walls are braided. As a result of such a simple opening, a box can be obtained that is not inferior in beauty and functionality to analogs from a vine.

First of all, columns must be made from the finished tubes, which will be the basis for weaving. For this, newspaper tubes are glued with their tips along the perimeter of the bottom of the box, at an equal distance from each other. Then the rest of each tube must be bent up and secured with clothespins along the upper edge in order to keep the distance between them when weaving.

After that, you can start weaving from the tubes, winding each of them horizontally under every second column. The tubes are connected to each other as follows: the narrow end of the tube, on which the glue is applied, is inserted into the previous element. After the weaving has reached the desired height, the posts must be cut with a margin of 3-4 cm and the ends must be hidden inside the weaving, or simply bend inside the box and glue.
