When compiling a cosmogram for each individual, astrologers attach great importance to the arrangement of the planets in the Zodiacal circle, arguing that by the ratio of the planets in this circle, one can see a person's past and determine the future.
At one time, astrologer Mark Johnson classified eight figures (or they are also called aspects) of the location of the planets in the Zodiacal circle and gave a description of the type of people born in accordance with the location of these figures. Calculation of the ratio of figures with the arrangement of planets in a circle at the time of a person's birth is called a cosmogram for a given person.
8 Johnson figures
Astrologers accepted Johnson's classification, but made additions to the description of the types.
According to Johnson's definition, there are eight astrological figures, which are called:
- Bowl, - Basket, - Bundle (or Bunch), - Sling,
- Stool, - Locomotive, - Swing (or Rocker), - Werewolf.
In the Chalice figure, the location of the planets in the Zodiacal circle is located in the 180-degree sector, when moving to another sector of the circle of one of the Chalice planets, a Basket is formed.
Bundle - all the planets of this figure are concentrated in the 120-degree sector of the circle, and in the Slingshot figure one of the planets is torn off and is located on the other half of the Zodiacal circle.
A stool is a figure in which opposite a sector of 120 degrees, the opposite sector is divided into two halves, and one planet is located in one of them. The figure is considered complex.
In the Locomotive, the planets are located so that two-thirds of the circle is occupied, and in the Swing, all the planets are located in symmetrical sectors.
Werewolf is a figure in which all planets are evenly spaced along the Zodiacal circle.
There are many options for the location of the planets in the Zodiacal circle, they form the elements of the cosmogram, but any cosmogram can be brought into correspondence with one of Johnson's figures. These figures are the fundamental criterion when drawing up a horoscope.
Drawing up a horoscope
To draw up a horoscope, you need to know the date and exact time of a person's birth, this will make it possible to determine the corresponding figure, which is the first step in drawing up a horoscope. The second stage is a careful analysis of the problems of concern to the person and drawing up a cosmogram in the light of these problems.
For a successful analysis of the figure, astrologers visually determine what type of configuration it belongs to: linear, triangular or quadrangular. Further, the figure is defined as consonant or dissonant.
Currently, astrologers, when making their forecasts, rely not only on the interpretation of figures. They do not divide figures into positive and negative ones. Figures are defined as consonant or dissonant.
