Decals are a great way to decorate furniture, walls, and various objects at no extra cost. If you need to put your own image or company logo on objects, then you can quite cope with the task of creating decals yourself.
It is necessary
- - transparent or white decal paper;
- - a sheet of photographic paper;
- - clear nail polish;
- - roller;
- - paper towels;
- - a container with clean water.
Instructions
Step 1
Design your decal in your favorite graphics application. This can be, for example, Microsoft Word or Adobe Photoshop. Alternatively, you can use a scanner and digital camera to import a specific image or graphic.
Step 2
After you have a layout for your iron-on transfers, print them on glossy photo paper or bright white heavyweight paper.
Step 3
Copy the required number of copies onto the special iron-on transfer paper using a photocopier. Since it is much heavier than regular printing paper, your copier may not be able to handle the job. You can contact any print shop for help in making copies.
Step 4
Spray 2-3 thin coats of varnish on the surface with the image. This will protect it and make the image a little denser. Each coat of varnish must be completely dry before applying a new one.
Step 5
After the last coat of polish is completely dry, carefully cut out the picture. Soak in clean water for a few minutes.
Step 6
Lightly wet the surface to which you are going to transfer the picture. This will allow you to adjust the position of the image.
Step 7
Gently slide the picture about 1/3 away from the edge of the backing paper and attach to the surface. Gently press down on the edges while slowly pulling out the backing paper.
Step 8
Adjust the position of the picture on the surface. Do this very carefully, as wet paper can tear even from a slight incorrect movement.
Step 9
Press down on the picture with a roller and gently smooth the surface with it, removing all water and bubbles.
Step 10
Blot the image with paper towels. They will absorb any remaining water on the surface. Let the decal dry for 10-12 hours.
