Hats made of soft, elastic knitwear do not go out of fashion for a long time, they keep you warm in cool weather, and go well with casual and sporty clothing. But their main advantage is that sewing a knitted hat does not take much time and does not require serious seamstress skills.
Sewing a knitted hat with your own hands allows you not only to replenish your wardrobe with a fashionable headdress, but also usefully get rid of unnecessary scraps of fabric or boring clothes. Very beautiful hats are obtained from bright T-shirts, sweaters or turtlenecks - such hats not only contribute to warmth, but also add completeness to the image.
Semicircular hat
The simplest knitted hat can be sewn by cutting out the details directly on the fabric without making a paper pattern. To do this, on a piece of knitwear folded in half with the front side inward, put the hat available in the wardrobe and circle it along the contour, taking into account the seam allowances of 0.8-1 cm. In the absence of a sample cap, a hemisphere is drawn on the fabric, the base of which is equal to the half-girth of the head, and the height corresponds to the desired height of the future hat.
To make a lapel of a hat, a rectangle is cut out, the length of which corresponds to the circumference of the head. The semicircular base of the hat cut from the fabric is stitched with a zigzag machine stitch along the outer edge, the same is done with the short sides of the part for the lapel. After that, the lapel is turned inside out to the front side and, with the help of tailor's needles, is attached to the main part, aligning the side seams.
Both parts are sewn with a knitted seam, the lower edge of the lapel is processed, and then all the seams are carefully ironed out. The bottom of the cap is turned outward to the desired height and steamed with an iron. To keep the lapel better, it can be secured with two or three inconspicuous stitches at the side seams. The finished hat is decorated with textile flowers, applique, beads.
Beanie with a veil
The incredibly popular, hot hat with a small veil is quite easy to make, but requires careful work. For cutting, you need a piece of knitted fabric, located in such a way that the future hat can stretch along the transverse line.
A rectangle with sides of 28 and 56 cm is drawn on the fabric folded with the front side inward - such a hat will fit most people whose head girth is from 48 to 63 cm. Ellipse is inscribed into the rectangle, the fabric is cleaved with needles and the part is cut out along the contour. The ellipse is stitched along the outer edge, leaving a small hole through which the finished part is turned onto the front side.
The hole is sewn up with small stitches, the part of the part where it was located is carefully tucked inward - a hat is obtained from a double layer of fabric in a shape resembling a rectangle with rounded edges. A 5-7 cm wide lapel is made from the edge of the cap.
In order to make a veil, you will need a special mesh-veil or a piece of tulle 50-52 cm long and 25 cm wide. The veil is applied to the cap, stepping back 10-14 cm from the crown, and then manually sewn to the back of the cap. Part of the net should be behind the cuff, and its edges should coincide with the side seams of the cap. You can wear a ready-made hat both with a completely lowered mesh, and with a veil that only covers your eyes.
