Congratulations on Teacher's Day should be sincere. A handmade postcard will be a great addition to a bouquet of flowers or a modest gift. The technique can be different - applique made of paper, fabric, thread or straw, beadwork, thread embroidery on paper, and much more.
Choosing a drawing
At the first stage, it is important to choose a drawing that will appeal to the teacher or teacher. Each holiday is characterized by certain symbols, and this October day is also no exception. Flowers are a traditional element. These can be asters, dahlias, gladioli - in a word, those associated with the school. The holiday is celebrated in the fall, so nothing prevents you from depicting maple leaves or rowan branches on the postcard. It is also necessary to put in the composition something related to the school - a globe, a notebook with a pen, a book. The complexity of the drawing depends on the technique you have chosen. For applique work, a pattern without small details is suitable; for embroidery with threads on paper, you need a pattern with many round elements.
It is better to choose a composition so that the theme of the holiday is clear without an inscription.
Dark background, white drawing
An interesting postcard can be made using the technique of scratching on a dark surface. To do this, you need:
- A4 sheet of thick paper or cardboard:
- white pencil;
- black ink or gouache:
- wide soft brush;
- thick needle or feather:
- metal ruler;
- scissors.
Fold a piece of cardboard in half, right side out. Cover the part where the drawing will be with a thick layer of ink or gouache and let dry. Draw the drawing with a white pencil. For this technique, compositions resembling an engraving are suitable. On a postcard for Teacher's Day, such a composition can include, for example, leaves or flowers and a globe. Carefully remove the paint where the white spots should be. This is done with a thick needle or feather.
To make the fold without creases, carefully scratch the future fold line along the back side with the sharp tip of a knife or scissors. Fold the sheet, smooth the fold with the blunt side of the scissors.
Thread embroidery on paper
This postcard is done very quickly. The technique is quite simple, even a junior schoolchild can cope with such work. You need:
- A4 colored cardboard;
- thick multi-colored cotton threads;
- a needle with a large eye;
- awl;
- pencil.
Fold the sheet in half, as in the previous case. Apply the drawing. In this case, it is not necessary to draw the entire pattern, you only need to determine the main points - the middle of flowers or leaves, the outlines of flowers in a circle, the direction of the branches. Make punctures at these points with an awl. Expand the holes to about 0.5mm in diameter. Embroider the flower like this. Bring the needle with the thread threaded into it to the front side through the middle of the flower, then to the wrong side through the hole in the contour. Tie the end of the thread to the main thread to create a loop. The knot will then need to be hidden on the seamy side under the stitches. Make the next stitch through the hole in the middle, but bring it to the wrong side through the adjacent hole on the contour. In this way, embroider the entire flower. Fasten the thread so that the knot is on the wrong side. Leaves can be embroidered in several ways: also, from one point, laying stitches to the holes along the contour, or parallel stitches. The first method is suitable for maple leaves, the second - for example, for mountain ash.
