To solve the traditional Rubik's cube, you need to master several basic combinations and understand the sequence of passing the stages. A more difficult task is to bring into proper form all the faces of the large cube (also called the Master), which has not three, but four layers of elements on each face. When you master this puzzle, the rest of the wisdom of toys from the world of Rubik will also be on your shoulder.

Rubik's cube 4x4x4

Instructions

Step 1

Determine for yourself those faces that will be front and top. During manipulations with a 4x4x4 cube, it is necessary to maintain the position of the puzzle in space. Usually, for ease of assembly in diagrams, each cube layer has its own name. For example, the leftmost layer has the designation L, and the next one, the one closer to the center, is designated by the same letter, but lowercase (l). You can use your own notation as well.

Step 2

To begin with, sequentially collect together all the "cores" of the sides of the cube. Rotating the layers of each face, achieve that in the central part an ensemble of four cubes of the same color is formed. As a result, you should end up with six central squares made up of four small elements.

Step 3

In the second step, focus your attention on the side ribs. There are two of them on each side of the central square. The task is to put these edge elements in their places and correctly orient them according to the colors of the adjacent cube faces. Collect on the upper surface of the puzzle a one-color cross, the width of the "blade" of which will be equal to two small cubes.

Step 4

After such manipulations, the Master Cube is already something that is very similar to a standard cube with three layers. Just imagine that instead of having four center face cubes, you have one center piece. The next stage of the assembly: swap the elements of the edges of the front surface, as well as the back and side faces. To do this, rotate the side and horizontal layers of the cube sequentially.

Step 5

Collect the large cross on the bottom surface. After rotating the layers, every two edge elements should be in place. For convenience, you can now turn the cube upside down, leaving the previous cube facade in place.

Step 6

In the final step, place the corners of the fourth layer on the designated places. When rotating, strive to ensure that the previously built pattern of the remaining surfaces is not disturbed, and all elements after the combination return to their original places, but already correctly oriented. After some practice, you will surely be able to handle this difficult task as well.
