The brightest of the holidays, full of hopes and expectations, of course, the New Year. And if you decorate your house with your own hands on the eve of this celebration, then it will become even more joyful: after all, everything done with love carries a charge of positive energy and light. Well, if you also involve your child in this process, then the joint creative process will bring satisfaction to everyone. So, how can you make Christmas decorations with your own hands, and what materials can be useful for this?

Step 1
Use salted dough to make Christmas tree toys. To do this, knead the dough: 1 cup flour, 1 cup salt, and enough water to make a tough dough. Fashion the toys, and while the dough is not dry, insert a paper clip into the top of the toy: for it you hang your decoration on the Christmas tree. When the toy is dry, paint it with gouache, let it dry and apply a colorless varnish on top. Such a craft will serve you for more than one year.
Step 2
Build a New Year's wreath with your own hands. Cut out a circle of cardboard as large as you want your wreath to be. Remove the middle (circle) from it so that the base for the wreath of the corresponding width remains. Apply polyurethane foam to this base, squeezing it out along the diameter of the wreath. When it dries up the next day, cut off its edges evenly and use PVA glue to fix it on it, making shallow holes, small branches of pine or spruce. After the glue, and with it the pine twigs, are well fixed on the wreath, decorate it with small balls, stars, snowmen, beads. Lubricate the branches with PVA glue and sprinkle with foam grated on an ordinary grater: you get a beautiful frost.
Step 3
To make your own Christmas decorations in the form of a garland, buy regular colored craft paper, cut it into rectangles measuring 6 cm by 1 cm, and glue a chain of multi-colored links.

The most common decorations for the New Year's holiday are snowflakes. They can be used to decorate the windows and walls of the house. Cut snowflakes from the foil that is sold in gift wrapping departments and comes in a wide variety of colors. The shapes of snowflakes can be the most bizarre, and the scope for creativity here has no boundaries. The more graceful the shape of the snowflake, the more elegant it will look against the background of a night winter window. Secure the snowflakes to the windows with small pieces of tape.
