Paintings embroidered with ribbons are a great gift. The fact that they are made by the hands of the donor makes them even more valuable. Master the basic stitches of this embroidery technique.
It is necessary
- Ribbons of different colors and widths (satin, silk, transparent);
- Fabric (linen, cotton, silk, woolen);
- Needles with wide ears and a thick shaft;
- Hoop;
- Phantom marker.
Instructions
Step 1
Select a drawing. Place the diagram on the glass, on which the lamp or sun is shining, and on top of the cloth. Transfer the design to the fabric with a disappearing felt-tip pen.
Step 2
Hoop the fabric without a pattern into the hoop. Cut the edge of the tape at a 45 degree angle. Cut 40 cm of tape so that it does not twist or wrinkle as it passes through the fabric. Learn the simplest stitches, start flat.
Put the edge of the tape sewn into the needle on the point. Insert the needle into the puncture. You will get a loop that will prevent the tape from slipping off the needle. Make a flat knot at the end of the tape, fold the end of the tape (about 1cm) in half and pierce it in the middle with a needle. Pull all of the tape through the puncture.
Step 3
After finishing the flat stitch, move on to the twisted straight stitch.
Bring the tape to the front and twist it in a clockwise spiral. After stitching to the desired length, remove the tape to the wrong side.
Step 4
Master the ribbon stitch. Press the tape against the fabric with the thumb of your free left hand, and at the distance necessary for the stitch, pull it out to the wrong side.
Step 5
Hoop the fabric with the transferred design into the hoop. Using the stitches learned, embroider the pattern according to the pattern.
Step 6
When the embroidery is finished, dampen a cotton swab and follow the marks of the felt-tip pen to make them disappear.
Step 7
Frame the embroidery.
