At the moment, there are many types of fishing: spinning fishing, bottom fishing, fishing with a float rod and others. Recently, feeder fishing has begun to gain particular popularity.
What is a feeder?
Feeder is a modern bottom fishing rod with feeder or weight. One of the differences between the feeder and the usual donkey is the bite signaling, which is carried out using the sensitive tip of the rod. In the literature, the feeder is often referred to as "English bottom fishing rod".
The feeder is very convenient when fishing in places with great depths and strong currents. This type of tackle allows you to fish at a distance from the coast, to economically spend additional feeding.
Feeder rods
Feeder rods include swingtip, quiver, winklepicker. The differences in these rods are only in the attachment of the tip: in the first case, it is attached to a rubber tube and hangs perpendicular to the rod, in the second case, the tip is inserted or screwed in.
Rods are divided by weight into light (light), medium (medium), heavy (heavy), ultralight (pickers) and superheavy. The most versatile type is medium rods. The main difference between a feeder rod and a spinning rod is a large number of low guide rings.
Choice of rod and rig
It is better to choose a rod within 4 meters. You can opt for a rod with an extra insertable knee, which will allow you to adjust its length. It is better not to spare money and choose a quality rod.
The main thing for the reel is the presence of a friction brake. It can also be a coil from an inexpensive company.
The feeder should be made of high-quality mesh, with reliable attachments for fishing line and load. You will need many different types of feeders for each area.
The line is chosen based on the casting distance. For starters, a line from 0.28 mm is suitable. If you plan to fish at a long distance, then it is better to stay on a fishing line with a diameter of 0.3 mm or on a braid. The braid is best chosen by more experienced anglers as it has no stretch and can often break.
The main mistakes when fishing with a feeder
1. Unauthorized change of fishing technique. The feeder may look like a donk or spinning rod, but this is a completely different tackle that requires special equipment and fishing technique.
2. Purchase 3-4 expensive rods and the same equipment for them. For feeder fishing, one rod with good rigging is enough.
3. Treating the feeder as a donkey. Yes, the feeder belongs to the bottom gear, but the fishing technique is completely different. The reloading of the tackle must be carried out every 10-15 minutes, regardless of the bite. It is better to take care of the correctness of the assembled rig and the prepared groundbait. You should also not hang more than one hook on the feeder.
4. Fishing without landing net. Of course, if you do not mind the feeder, then you can not use the landing net. But these rods are very sensitive and delicate, and such handling can lead to quick rod breakage.
