Bream lives in almost all freshwater reservoirs of our country. However, catching this fish with an ordinary float rod can be difficult. It is better to catch large bream on the bottom with a feeder-feeder.
Bream is considered a valuable trophy for an angler, since this fish of the carp family reaches quite large sizes, and its meat is not inferior in nutritional properties to fatty varieties of red fish. The most promising way of amateur fishing for large bream is with feeder tackle.
How to make feeder tackle for catching bream
As a rod, you can use an inexpensive composite spinning rod with a length of 300-390 centimeters. The spinning reel should have a smooth running. As for the fishing line, for large fish it is better to use a braid with a diameter of at least 0, 12 millimeters.
Feeder hooks should be selected based on the size of the fish you intend to fish. Hooks can be either regular or offset. If maggot is used as a nozzle, hooks No. 3, 2-3, 6 will do.
Feeder tackle baits
The key element of the feeder tackle is the feeder. And for a good catch for fishing, you should take several feeders of different shapes and sizes. The same goes for the contents of the feeders, it is better to do bait with different ingredients.
The basis of the bait for bream is prepared from porridge, it can be pearl barley, wheat, corn, millet or oatmeal. You can add bread crumbs to the base. Then bait of animal origin is added to the thick porridge: maggot, bloodworms or earthworms.
The bait must have a viscous structure, otherwise it will be washed out of the trough too quickly. Oatmeal soaked in hot water and semolina give viscosity. Therefore, it is not recommended to use only crackers as a basis.
Feeder troughs should be sized to wash out the groundbait in a few minutes (ideally 3-5 minutes). However, it is possible to choose a suitable feeder for a certain bait only after the rate of washing out the bait has been determined empirically. To do this, put the filled feeder in the water near the shore and note the time for washing out its contents.
If there is a current in the reservoir, the feeder is washed out rather quickly. Therefore, for fishing in stagnant water, large holes should be used. And for fishing in rivers with turbulent currents - with small holes.
Features of catching bream
It is better to search for bream habitats using an echo sounder. This fish usually keeps close to pits and pools with a clay bottom. In the absence of an echo sounder, you can explore the reservoir by throwing the feeder tackle in different places. With a successful cast, the bites will begin almost immediately.
