In the fisherman's understanding, a feeder is an evolutionary model of a conventional donkey. In other words, a more modern fishing tackle. Feeder fishing has its own complexities and subtleties.

Feeder tackle device

The choice of the feeder is very important. After all, its task is to provide information about what is happening at the bottom with the bait and the feeder, whether there is a bite, which fish has sat on the hook, how the bottom topography changes, and much more. Various models of feeders from well-known brands are currently on sale. When purchasing it is important that the tackle "lies" in the hand. Then it will serve for a very long time.

Feeder rods come in a variety of lengths, action and test. An experienced angler knows that the longer the feeder rod, the faster and easier it is to cast the baited feeder. Very often the fish just stands far from the shore, and moves reluctantly in search of food. So, the length of the feeders is from 2, 5 to 5 meters. For a small river or lake, opt for three meters. For long distance fishing, the popular feeder length is 4 meters. For ultra-long casts and strong currents, use feeders over 4 meters long.

The line of the feeder is its ability to bend while casting the bait. Slow standing rods bend in a smooth arc, starting from the handle. Medium action assumes a bend around the middle of the rod. A fast standing rod bends only at the tip. The feeder test shows what kind of load it is designed for. The traditional test for a river with a current is 100-120 grams, for a lake or reservoir - 60 grams.

The feeder always comes with 3-4 tops. They vary in color and hardness. The tops play the role of a bite signaling device.

Catching with a feeder

So, with the help of the feeder, the angler can fish in places far from the coast. Before the start of fishing, several test casts are made without a feeder. Thus, the bottom topography is studied. The most promising are bottom pits, curbs, dumps in depth. The feeder provides a unique opportunity to deliver groundbait to these places with great precision. However, to acquire the skill of well-aimed tackle throwing, you need to practice well.

With correct casting, a stern spot will soon form on the bottom, in which the bait is located. Thus, the chances of a bite increase. In order to accurately cast the rod, you need to choose a landmark on the opposite bank - a tree, a bush, a hill. Cast the rod from the same spot. Fix the fishing line in a special clip. Due to this, the range will be the same for the next casts.

Feeder bait

Feeder bait is the main element of successful fishing. There are special factory baits for different types of reservoirs and fish. They have a diverse composition and quality. However, such baits can be successfully done with your own hands. Often they turn out to be more attractive than factory ones.

To prepare one of the baits, you will need: fried and chopped crackers (30%), bran (15%), fried sunflower seeds (10%), cookies (5%), compound feed (5%), chopped and fried oatmeal (5 %). Mix all the ingredients and add half a glass or a glass of salt (depending on the volume). Directly on fishing, mix the bait using the water of the reservoir. Be sure to add flavors (vanilla, garlic, cinnamon). Also, boiled millet, small bloodworms, chopped worms can be used as the basis for the feeder.
