Feeder tackle is a great tool for bottom fishing. In order for the fishing to be successful and the catch to be excellent, it is important to properly equip the feeder, preparing it for the upcoming fishing.
Rod
The feeder rod is distinguished from the rest by a flexible tip, which is used as a bite signal. Feeder rods are now available in many catalogs of renowned manufacturers.
There are various classes into which feeder rods are usually subdivided, in addition to this, there are also intermediate types.
Each class of feeders has its own maximum throwable load, which is different for each company. On the average, the class light is adapted for a load of 40 g, medium - 60 g, heavy - 80 g, extra-heavy - above 100 g. Removable sensitive tips, which are included in the feeder rod set, differ in the degree of rigidity. Apex is a bite alarm, its sensitivity is measured in ounces. It shows the force that must be applied to the tip to bend it at right angles. Sensitivity can range from half an ounce (thinnest) to six ounces (thickest).
Feeder Rod Reel
When choosing a reel for this type of fishing rod, you need to look at the gear ratio and the diameter of the bobbin. These indicators should be high, this will make the winding of the tackle faster. When choosing a reel for a feeder rod, such indicators as a smooth ride with good traction, as well as uniform laying of the line are also important.
The friction brake is also an important detail. It needs to be precisely regulated and reliable. But the location of the brake is not so important.
Feeder line
It is desirable that the main line is specifically designed for feeder rods. You should not exceed the load specified by the manufacturer, since the rod may simply not withstand and break. For very light feeders, the so-called pickers, and just light ones, use monofilament with a diameter of 0.1-0.2 mm. Feeder rods of the middle class have a line thickness of 0.16-0.28 mm. Thick lines are not used in feeder equipment, as are thin lines that may not withstand casting.
When fishing line is selected, its thickness should be such as to support the weight of the prey. In addition, when choosing a line, do not forget about the power of the rod and the fishing conditions.
Many anglers use braided line, replacing it with the main one. This is permissible when throwing over long distances. The braided line conveys the bite better, however, the reel brake setting for it needs a finer one, otherwise the tip may break off, or the rod itself may break.
