A convenient and original pincushion can be made from a mug with your own hands in just 5 minutes. Moreover, it is not necessary to purchase a new mug or cup, it is better to take one that is no longer possible to use for its intended purpose. A chipped mug is not a pity, but you can arrange it in such a way that the defect will not be visible.
So, to create a convenient and original needle bed, we choose a mug or a tea pair, you will also need fabric, padding material (the ideal option is the one that is sold in needlework stores for stuffing soft toys, but you can also take cotton wool), threads, glue (a good option - hot glue, but "Moment" will do).
1. Cut off a square piece of fabric (its side should be at least two and a half times the diameter of the circle).
2. Put the stuffing material into the cloth (enough to fill the mug tightly enough).
3. Tighten the edges of the fabric with a thread or elastic band for money. We place the fabric in the mug so that a soft cushion remains outside, and the ugly tightened edges of the fabric are hidden in the mug.
To prevent the pad from slipping out of the mug, fix it with a few drops of glue.
: if your mug was split, had another small defect, you can mask it by gluing a bow made of satin or other ribbon, making a lace border. Other ways of additional finishing of the resulting needle bed are possible - they depend only on your imagination and the materials at hand.
if you are making a pincushion not from a mug, but from a tea pair (cup and saucer), you should also glue the bottom of the cup to the saucer. Thus, you can use the saucer as an additional place to store small items for sewing.
