A mug is a necessary thing in every home. The stores sell a huge number of mugs made from a wide variety of materials, mainly glass, porcelain, and plastic. But what if you make a mug out of wood with your own hands?
It is necessary
block of wood
Instructions
Step 1
To make a wooden mug, take a block of wood that will have a vertical arrangement of the direction of growth of the fibers. So, take this very block and on its upper side draw two circles that will serve as the outer and inner sides of our future mug. Do not forget to also leave room for a pen on the workpiece. If the size of the block leaves no room for a pen, then take another with a similar texture and draw a pen on it. Now take the blanks (the base of the mug) and drill several holes in it with a drill. Then, use a narrow semicircular chisel to remove excess wood. Now take a fine-grained skin and work the inner surface with it. Basically, you can achieve the same hole using a lathe.
Step 2
Once you've cleaned and sanded the inside of the mug, start working on the outside. Take a semicircular chisel and remove the unnecessary layer of wood. Then take a thin chisel and shape the mug, and then use a sandpaper to process the surface and, if desired, apply a pattern to the mug.
Step 3
So, we have a wooden glass. Now we will make a mug out of it. To do this, glue a handle cut from another bar to the resulting glass. If the mug is made from a single piece of wood, then remove the excess wood from it and shape the handle. For these works, use a jigsaw, it will help you cut off unnecessary pieces as accurately and without chipping as possible. At the end of the work, sand the handle and decorate it as desired.
That's all, done! Drinking from a hand-made mug is always a pleasure!
