The simplest paper mug: craft for toddlers

Before starting the creative process, prepare all the necessary materials with your baby:

  • paints;
  • thick cardboard of the desired color;
  • paper or old newspaper;
  • glue;
  • scissors;
  • paper tape;
  • stationery knife.

Cut a template out of paper to create a craft project. You can draw it yourself or print it from the Internet. If you are drawing by hand, take a piece of cardboard and draw 6 identical sides of a paper mug in one line on it.

At this stage, determine the depth and width of the circle you want. In those places where the edges touch, bends will be obtained.

If you have a ready-made template printed, attach it to the cardboard, trace and cut out with a clerical knife. Bend the resulting workpiece in the necessary places and carefully glue it with paper tape. Make sure that there are no gaps and that the edges of the circle fit snugly together.

To the size of the resulting side surface of the future cup, cut the bottom out of the cardboard and glue it in place with tape. Then cut a strip of cardboard 1 cm wide and long enough to glue the bottom with it so that the cup rests on this strip.

Then tear the old newspaper or plain white paper into small pieces. Smear the resulting cup blank with glue and glue with pieces of paper or newspaper. After gluing the entire surface, leave the glue to dry for 1-1.5 hours.

During this time, cut a strip of cardboard about 2 cm wide. Depending on the design of your cup, it can be curved or straight. Give it the color you want with paints and set it aside until it dries completely.

When coloring, use gouache, adding a minimum of water to the paint so as not to soak the paper mug. You can not only paint in the desired color, but also create a pattern to your taste, including on the inner walls of the cup.

After decorating, wait until the craft dries and glue the handle on the side. The paper mug is ready.

If there is no desire to deal with paints, you can immediately take beautiful colored cardboard and decorative tape for gluing. In this case, the paper mug will not need additional decor and will turn out much faster. It is only necessary to practice with the baby in advance evenly and carefully stick the tape on the cardboard.

Make cuts at the bottom of the rectangle to a horizontal line. Cut 8 small rectangles of 8.5 by 2.5 cm from decorative paper. Glue them over each of the edges of the paper blank.

Glue the extreme edges together in such a way that a cylinder is formed.
