It is necessary

  • - rubber;
  • - sewing machine;
  • - scissors;
  • - pin;
  • - bobbin with elastic thread.

Instructions

Step 1

To provide an elastic with a drawstring, bend the edge of the part to the width of the elastic, with a slight allowance. Sew along the entire fabric, leaving a couple of centimeters hole. The elastic can also be located in the center of the product, in this case, sew a strip from the wrong side.

Step 2

Cut the elastic to the desired length and hook the tip onto a safety pin. Pass the pin through the hole and, bending the fabric with an accordion, reach the end, pull out the pin. Sew the ends of the elastic together and hide, and sew up the hole.

Step 3

Try to sew a wide elastic band directly to the product. To do this, cut a piece of the desired length and divide it in half. Mark with colored chalk. Bend the resulting halves in half and find their middle, mark it. For a more accurate result, you can repeat the procedure, as a result the elastic will be divided into 8 parts.

Step 4

Do the same with the product. That is, bending it in half, divide it into the same number of parts, marking their borders with chalk.

Step 5

Start sewing on the elastic, it is better to use a knitted zigzag or double stitch for this. Align one of the marks on the garment with the beginning of the elastic, lower the needle. Then pull the elastic by hand so that the following marks line up. Pinch this place with your fingers (you could have previously secured with a pin) and, continuing to pull, sew to the mark.

Step 6

Stop, make sure the needle is down, and pull the elastic back up to the next marked spot. After securing it, sew this section. Thus, sew the entire perimeter of the product.

Step 7

For sewing elastic into sleeves or other decorative details, try elastic thread. Thread it into the lower bobbin (pre-made bobbins with wound thread are also sold) and zigzag from the inside. Then pull the thread to the desired relief and secure the ends.
