The bolero appeared as part of the national costume of the Spaniards in the 18th century. It is noteworthy that only men wore it. Nowadays, boleros have become the subject of a predominantly female wardrobe. They are knitted, sewn from soft knitwear, thin leather, fur and even denim.
It is necessary
- - denim - 1, 3 m;
- - Jean jacket;
- - sewing accessories;
- - sewing machine;
- - a simple pencil;
- - tape measure;
- - blocks;
- - a device for installing blocks.
Instructions
Step 1
To build a bolero pattern, you can use a ready-made template or use an old denim jacket that fits well on you. Open all seams. Smooth them out and use the details as a pattern. You should have 1 piece for the back, 2 for the shelves, sleeves, cuffs, bottom placket, clasp and collar. Adjust the length of the garment and cut out the details from new denim.
Step 2
The sewing technology does not differ from the manufacture of other shoulder products. Shoulder and side seams need to be sewn. Then sew in the collar, sew on the strap for the fastener and the bottom of the bolero. Next, make the side seams of the sleeves and sew them into the armholes. Since denim is a heavyweight fabric, sew 2 stitches at a time when sewing parts, or use a seam.
Step 3
It is quite difficult to work with dense denim. Only experienced dressmakers will be able to cope with the task. It will be much easier for novice needlewomen to use a ready-made denim jacket for sewing a bolero. You can use both the new and the old thing.
Step 4
Measure the length of the bolero you want. Its usual size is just below the chest, but fashion designers in their collections show very short denim boleros, which are practically sleeves and a collar.
Step 5
Lay the denim jacket on the table and cut the bottom plank from it. Unstitch the top stitches, remove all threads.
Step 6
Measure the required length of the bolero from the shoulder line. Draw a line for the bottom with a simple pencil. Cut, leaving 1 cm for the seam allowance.
Step 7
Attach the strip to the cut and insert between its parts. Pin the part with tailor's pins, positioning them across the stitching seam.
Step 8
Prepare your sewing machine. Since denim is a very heavy fabric, use a # 100 or # 110 needle and heavy duty reinforced threads. To grind the part, you need to lay a double stitch, for this take a special needle or make 2 parallel stitches.
Step 9
Tack and start grilling the plank. Try to keep the seam exactly along the line of the split stitching, so the garment will look neater.
Step 10
Attach the shirts along the bottom bar of the denim bolero. Mark with a simple pencil where they are located at an equal distance from each other. Attach the blocks using the special installation tool. Insert a silk scarf through the holes in the blocks and tie it with a bow. This element can be changed depending on the mood, getting completely different images.
