Bolero is a piece of clothing that will adorn any outfit of a little fashionista: both everyday and festive. And to sew it yourself is not so difficult. You just need a little patience and a little cloth.

It is necessary

  • 1. A piece of fabric measuring 0.5 meters.
  • 2. Threads of a suitable color.
  • 3. Pattern of a children's jacket or cardigan.
  • 4. Pencil, chalk, remnant or tailor's marker.
  • 5. Measuring tape.
  • 6. Decorations for olero (appliques, beads, etc.) - optional.

Instructions

Step 1

As a basis for constructing a bolero pattern, you need to pattern any adjoining children's jacket or cardigan that can be found in a sewing or knitting magazine. Make sure the pattern fits. To do this, measure the girth of the child's chest and check the pattern with the data. When adding the width of the shelves and backrest, you should get a number equal to the measure or more by 2-5 centimeters.

Step 2

Transfer the pattern to the paper. Measure the required length of the future bolero on the child and shorten the shelves and back of the pattern. Narrow the shelves to 10 centimeters and round from the side line to the neckline. To construct a sleeve pattern, determine how long the bolero sleeve should be, also measuring it on the child. Shorten or lengthen the sleeve pattern as needed.

Step 3

Cut out the finished patterns and lay them out on the fabric, having previously determined the location of the cross and lobe threads. Pin the patterns and trace with a pencil, chalk, remnant, or tailor's marker. Cut out the details from the fabric, leaving seam allowances of 2 centimeters along the bottom of the back, sleeves and edges of the shelves, and 1 centimeter in other places.

Step 4

Remove the paper patterns from the fabric. Fold the back and shelves right sides together and sew shoulder and side seams. At this stage, fitting is required. If you did everything correctly, then the product should fit well on the model.

Step 5

Sew the seams of the sleeves and sew them into the armholes. Bend the bottom of the sleeves, as well as the edge of the bolero inward by 0.5 centimeters, then another 1.5 centimeters, and sew on a typewriter.

Step 6

The bolero is ready. Now, if you wish, you can decorate it with appliques, beads, rhinestones or lace. To add airiness to a new wardrobe item, you can decorate its edge with flounces made of the same or tougher fabric, for example, tulle.
