Representatives of one subculture are united, first of all, by their ideology or worldview. The visual embodiment of a certain view of the world is a minor detail. However, quite often it becomes so bright that it is the attributes that attract the attention of new "adepts" of the movement. Hippies are among such vibrant and recognizable subcultures. To express your belonging to them, you can sew a T-shirt decorated with typical, which has become "classic" symbols.
Instructions
Step 1
Take the simplest white cotton T-shirt as a base. Make it colorful, thereby creating a background for future decoration. Paint the shirt over the fabric. To create abstract patterns as quickly and easily as possible, use the knotted batik technique. Grasp a small area of fabric with two fingers. Tie up this "tuft" with white cotton thread. Cover the entire surface of the shirt with these knots. Choose a fabric dye that is water-soluble. It is especially suitable for natural fabrics. According to the instructions, dissolve the dye powder in water (usually adding salt is required) and dip the T-shirt there. When completely dry, untie the threads and iron the clothes.
Step 2
The next step is to apply hippie symbols to the T-shirt. Take the herbal green batik paint. Spread the shirt out on the table so that its back is on top. Place thick cardboard between the layers of fabric to prevent paint from seeping onto the front. Use a thin brush to write the most famous hippie slogan - Make love not war. Decorate the letters as the curves of a plant, draw a flower instead of the letter "o": plant motifs are characteristic of this subculture.
Step 3
On the front side of the T-shirt, place the main hippie symbol - pacif (a graphic symbol expressing the idea of pacifism, the so-called cross of peace). You can use a patch, iron on or embroider the badge yourself, with ribbons or satin stitch. Also, using one of these technologies, attach the yin-yang symbol to the sleeve.
Step 4
One of the distinctive features of hippies is still bead baubles. They can also be used to decorate a T-shirt. Weave a bracelet according to any pattern you like. Its width should be 2-3 cm greater than the girth of your arm at the shoulder. Sew the finished bauble to the sleeve of the T-shirt, grabbing it with threads along the top edge.
Step 5
Beading the bottom of the shirt. Step 2-5 cm away from the hem of the hem and draw a line parallel to the edge. Cut the bottom of the shirt along this line and hem both sides. Then connect both parts with beaded threads, sewing them in parallel at a distance of a centimeter from each other.
