Wild animals are rich material for artists. By conveying the color, texture of the skin, the shape of the body of various inhabitants of the deserts and jungles in the drawing, you can fully develop the talent of the draftsman.
Instructions
Step 1
To correctly convey the proportions of the giraffe's body, make a pencil sketch. The length of its neck is equal to the distance from the back to the legs hidden behind the grass. These parameters are correct for both giraffes. Divide the height from back to ground into three equal parts. Draw the upper third with two horizontal lines, indicating the body of the giraffe. Moreover, the back of it, since it is farther from the viewer, will look narrower than the front. The giraffe on the right is turned sideways to the viewer, so its proportions are not distorted visually.
Step 2
Draw the legs of the animals, expanding them at the level of the knee joints. Draw elongated heads topped with cylindrical horns.
Step 3
Color the giraffes with watercolors. Dip the brush in clean water and run it over the entire design. Wait 1-2 minutes - during this time, mix the desired shade of brown in the palette. Apply this color, touching the paper pointwise - stains will blur on a wet surface.
Step 4
Make the dried drawing more vivid by applying darker shades to those parts of the giraffe's body that are in the shade.
Step 5
When drawing a lion, sketch in the same way, using part as a unit of measure, with which you can determine the size of all areas of the drawing. Since the lion's coloring is monochromatic, pay special attention to the shades of light brown with which you will color the image. Add light ocher to the main shade and apply the resulting color to the areas of the front left paw and near the ear. Add some brick to fill the area of the lion's mane and sides. Distribute a colder shade with the addition of dark brown and blue over the animal's face and back. When the main fill is dry, use the thinnest brush to apply subtle strokes to convey the texture of the coat.
Step 6
In the image of an elephant, it is important to convey the texture of the animal's skin. The right choice of material will help you with this - gouache, acrylic or oil are dense enough to convey the thickness and dullness of the skin. Draw folds and cracks with a thin brush on the dried base in a darker color. Alternatively, apply craquelure to areas that need to be cracked.
