Denim style is truly versatile. Denim clothes are worn with pleasure by children, young people and elderly people. Quite often, a certain number of old trousers and jackets accumulate in the house, which are already indecent to wear, but it is a pity to throw them away. From old mom's or dad's jeans, you can sew, for example, a jumpsuit for a son or a sundress for a daughter.

You can, of course, sew a denim overalls for a boy and from a new fabric, since it is not a problem to buy it in a specialized store. But fabrics in the store are sometimes more expensive than ready-made clothes. By altering old adult jeans, you get a stylish outfit for your little one virtually for free. In addition, it will be possible to use some details that are rather difficult to process - pockets, a belt, etc.

To sew a denim overalls for a boy, you will need:

- old but complete jeans;

- pattern of children's trousers:

- long metal ruler;

- tailor's square;

- a piece of cardboard;

- iron;

- sewing accessories;

- fittings.

Gently open the washed jeans. Iron the fabric. Ironing is not necessary, but the surface of the fabric should be flat. Do not iron the belt and patch pockets.

Make a pattern. If you don't have a suitable magazine on hand, rip open old but fitting trousers, preferably without a fly (for example, pajamas). The pattern of the upper part of the jumpsuit is a rectangle. Its vertical side is equal to the distance from the waist to the chest line or slightly higher, the horizontal side is at your discretion. It is better to first cut the square out of thin cardboard, and then transfer it to the fabric, adding 3 cm allowances on each side.

Cut the legs from the lower parts of the adult trousers. If the jeans at the bottom are not frayed, you can leave the hem. Cut out the breast from the top of the front. It can also consist of two parts, since you will sew a pocket on top. From the belt, cut a piece equal to the circumference of the waist, plus 3-4 cm for the fastener. It is better to cut off from the side where the loop is.

It is better to use the same stitch that jeans are usually sewn with. It is very similar to the underwear one. Align the side seam cuts so that the back seam allowance protrudes 0.5 cm. Baste the seam and sew on the wrong side. Iron the seam allowance towards the front, fold over the overhang, baste and stitch. It is better to take cotton threads of the same color as the stitch you decided to keep. Baste and stitch the second side seam, then step in the same way. At one of the side seams, leave an area of 5-6 cm unsealed, which will adjoin the belt. If there is a short zipper, you can sew it in there. If there is no zipper, sew 1-2 small buttons to the back half, and work the welt loops on the front.

You have two halves of the pants. To sew them together, you need to turn one inside out, and leave the other on the front side. Insert the second half into the first so that the allowance of one part protrudes by 0.5 cm. Sweep the halves and sew first along the wrong side, and then, as with joining the side seams, iron the allowances on one side, fold and stitch. Sew on the waistband after finishing the cut edge.

The breast can be sewn in two ways - sew the lower part to the belt or make it detachable. Either way, iron the seam allowances, fold inward and stitch. Sew a patch pocket in the middle and buttons in the upper corners. If the breast will unfasten, make 2 welt loops at the bottom, and sew buttons on the belt. You can also sew it to the belt just above the hem line. It is better, of course, to stitch along the hem itself, but not every machine will take fabric of this thickness.

Cut out 2 straps. Fold them in half lengthwise, right side out. Fold the allowances inward and press. Tie up the seams. Make the finishing line parallel to the fold line. Sew the straps at the back to the waistband. Make slit loops at the risers.
