For many young people, the subculture is becoming a way to make up their minds, to find their place in the world and in society, to find like-minded people and to feel like a part of a society of interests. One of the popular youth communities that originated abroad in the early eighties is the community of alternative people. How do alternatives differ from other people?

Some alternatives share the radical political views of anarchists and other leaders, have rigid social principles and strive to participate in the social and political life of their country in order to change society for the better.

If you want to become an alternative, your music is alternative metal, reminiscent of a mixture of heavy metal and thrash metal, and rapcore - a mixture of rock, punk and rap, and grunge. Famous alternative music performers include Nirvana, Limp Bizkit, Rage against the mashine, and others.

Belonging to a subculture largely depends on your appearance. The key element of the alternative's appearance is black clothes, black hair, sneakers, various body modifications - piercings, tattoos, earrings; however, you can find committed alternatives who do not seek to demonstrate their beliefs through their appearance and dress like other people, seeking comfort and sporty dressing style.
