Sometimes old jeans accumulate in the house, which no one wears anymore, and it's a pity to throw it away - you never know where they come in handy? A few ideas for using old jeans will allow you to get rid of the dead weight of your pants and put them into circulation. Jeans can be revived not only as clothes, but also as original interior items, accessories and even shoes. Due to the uneven coloring and scuffs of the old "jeans", the products assembled from many scraps always look interesting, so the "denim" style has already become a classic.
It is necessary
- - old jeans;
- - sewing accessories;
- - sewing machine.
Instructions
Step 1
Denim skirt made of trousers. Trim your old jeans to the length of the skirt you want. If you will be processing the bottom into a hem, then add another 4 cm for processing the bottom (you can not bend it, but dissolve the fabric a little to get a short fringe).
Step 2
Part the inside leg seams and the crotch seam up to the buckle (fly) at the front and to the waist at the back. Turn the pants inside out and fold, aligning the side seams and straighten the ripped parts.
Step 3
Draw lines on the open sections of both halves of the pants in the back and front, connecting the points on the crotch (at hip level) and the bottom of the skirt. This will cut away excess fabric and make the cuts straight. Do not forget about the seam allowance - 1.5 cm.
Step 4
Stitch the open ends at the front and back with a denim seam. Pull up the bottom of the skirt or fan the fabric into fringes.
Step 5
A bag. Lay the jeans front-side up on a table. Measure from the waistband 24 cm and cut along this line.
Step 6
Sew a strip with a width of 13 cm and a length equal to the length of the lower edge of the cut-off part of the pants from multi-colored patches (measure this value in a circle). The strip can be made using the "lazy" patchwork technique: cut out a strip of the required size from cotton fabric and spread the shreds back to back on it, pin and sew them to the base with a "zigzag" stitch.
Step 7
Stitch the side (short) cuts of the resulting patchwork strip. Sew it to the bottom edge of the denim. Iron the seam and stitch from the front side along the patchwork strip.
Step 8
At this stage, measure the width of the top and bottom of the future bag and its height. Cut out the lining using these measurements and sew it.
Step 9
Turn the bag inside out and grind down the bottom cuts. Fold one of the corners of the bag so that the side and bottom seams meet and fold flat. Along the line of the bottom seam from the corner, measure 2.5 cm and draw a perpendicular to the seam. Make a double stitch along this line. Treat the second corner in the same way.
Step 10
Cut out handles of any length from the cut section of the jeans. Moreover, their width should be twice as large as you need in finished form, plus allowances of 1 cm on all sides. Fold the cut out handle pieces in half lengthways with the right side inward. Sew the handles along the long side and turn them over your face. Stitch the handles along the edges at a distance of 0.5 cm and sew to the belt on the jeans so that their seam allowances extend beyond the lower edge of the belt and look inside the bag.
Step 11
Sew the lining to the bottom edge of the waistband either by hand or with a typewriter, hiding the handle allowances underneath.
Step 12
Organizer. Using the split leg as a base and pockets from a few old jeans, sew a handy organizer. To determine the size, focus on the place in which you plan to place it.
Step 13
Hem seam or contrast bias tape over the edges of the main fabric. Sew on the pockets in random order. Decorate with applique or lettering with acrylic textile paint.
