  • Adobe Photoshop on your computer
  • multi-layer psd file

Instructions

Step 1

Take, for example, a file containing three layers: an abstract background (Background), a black cat figurine layer (Layer 1), and layer 2 with a red fish. Let's say you need to delete the layer with the fish. To work with layers you need the Layers palette. This can be done through the Window menu. Find the item "Layers" in the list, and tick it. Or just press "F7" on the keyboard.

Step 2

In the appeared palette you will see thumbnails with layer images and their names. Find the layer with the fish we are interested in and click on it with the left mouse button once. The layer will be highlighted.

Step 3

In the lower right corner of the palette, find the image of a trash can. Click on it with the left mouse button. Or use the "Layer" menu by selecting "Delete" there.

Step 4

You will see a dialog box asking "Are you sure you want to delete layer 2?" If this is indeed the layer that you need to delete, click on the button with the word "Yes".

Step 5

You will see that the figure of the red fish has disappeared in the picture, and in the layers palette - Layer 2.

Step 6

Save the modified file by choosing File> Save. If you want to save the modified drawing in a separate file, select the "Save as" item and give the file a new name.
