Drawing the sky with a pencil is not easy. Volumetric shapes of clouds are difficult to depict using regular hatching. However, if you follow a certain algorithm, you can get a good, fairly realistic result.
Instructions
Step 1
Draw some basic outlines. Remember that clouds are very rarely circular. In addition, it all depends on the specific type. The size of the clouds can also vary. If you want to portray something really beautiful, take one large cloud and many small ones.
Step 2
Add fluffiness to the contours. Make some of the small clouds cirrus. That is, the wind should literally carry them along a horizontal plane. Give the rest a little volume by increasing the rounded details.
Step 3
Draw a thicker line around the outlines of the clouds. Mark specific areas of the hatch and add even more detail to the drawing.
Step 4
Add land under the sky. This will make the drawing look more realistic. Hatch on the light and dark sides, adding volume. Keep in mind that the clouds are very far away, so the shadows should not have clear outlines.
