Sailing is undoubtedly popular, but it is by no means a cheap pleasure, and therefore often amateurs make watercraft and sails for them on their own. If you have already sewn the sail, the mast is completely ready, then it makes sense to learn how to properly attach the sail.
Instructions
Step 1
Sails are now used (and sewn) oblique, thanks to this design, they are located completely on one side of the mast. Obviously, this position gives a certain load on the vessel, and therefore it is important to balance the vessel and correctly fix the sail. To prevent the vessel from moving sideways (sideways), be sure to provide additional keels on its bottom, as well as hang scoops on the sides.
Step 2
Ballast keels lowered under the water will help to avoid roll in gusty winds. It is worth spending some time and calculating the roll of the vessel and its "windage" for various meteorological conditions, this will protect your vacation.
Step 3
To set the sail, pass the mast through the cutout of the front seat pad (partners) and the lower end (spur) and insert into the nest-step attached to the keel of the boat. Do not touch the mast itself. Attach the batten sail by the eyelets to the boom and the rail, and fasten the boom with its end to the mast using a suitable hinge. Please note that it is the hinge that will ensure the movement of the structure in the horizontal and vertical planes.
Step 4
Attach a simple loop of rods to a yoke (hook ring) that will slide over the mast.
Attach the cable to the clevis and pass it through the pulley at the upper end of the mast.
