The vest knits pretty quickly and rarely remains unclaimed. For a boy, this thing can be worn with a shirt, turtleneck and T-shirt every day and on more solemn occasions. It all depends on what pattern and color you choose for your work. Simple plaits, rhombuses, squares and other geometric reliefs look great on a boy's vest. And if you choose a universal pattern with a V-neck and armholes of sleeves, then such clothes can be inherited by your little sister.

It is necessary

  • - yarn of medium thickness (200 g);
  • - needles No. 3, 5 and 4;
  • - darning needle;
  • - pin.

Instructions

Step 1

Choose the right pattern and calculate the knitting density and the size you want. For example, a 4-5 year old boy can knit a vest with needles # 4 made of medium-thick yarn (only a couple of 100-gram skeins will be needed). The knitting density in the described example will be 23 loops per 10 cm of fabric.

Step 2

Start work from the back of the vest with thinner knitting needles - No. 3 or 3, 5. Cast on 73 loops on them and make an elastic band 2-2, 5 cm high (two purl and two front loops). Next, you need to switch to thicker knitting needles, on which you calculated the density of the knitted fabric (in this case - No. 4).

Step 3

Go to the main selected pattern. A beginner knitter can be recommended "rice", or "pearl" relief pattern - with its help, an interesting "gritty" structure of the fabric is created.

Small pearls are simple to do:

- first knit a row, like an elastic band - alternating front and back loops;

- in the next row, shift the pattern by one loop: over the front one do the purl, over the purl - the front one;

- then continue to shift along the sample.

For large pearls, offset across the row.

Step 4

Knit the vest until you have made the canvas 20-25 cm high from the end of the bottom elastic. Now the armholes of the sleeves should be made on the left and right sides. For each armhole, close every row:

- first, 3 loops at once (knitting adjacent loops together);

- then 2 loops;

- finally, 1 loop.

Step 5

Measure the knitted back from the bottom edge to the top - if the total length of the work reaches 40 cm, close the loops. You should have ten stitches for each shoulder and 33 middle stitches for the neckline.

Step 6

Pattern the front of the boy's vest using the pattern for the back until you reach the beginning of the formation of the armholes. Begin to perform them in the above way and at the same time remove a pair of central front loops on a pin - this is the beginning of the triangular neck of the future children's vest.

Step 7

On one side of the neckline, continue to knit with the same working yarn, on the other, insert the thread of the same color and thickness from a separate ball. You need to do one part of the front first, then the other.

Step 8

To gradually shorten the knitted fabric for the neck of the vest, in every second row, step back from the edge by 3 loops and knit two subsequent loops together. 3 times decrease 2 loops on each side of the cutout, then 16 more times along the loop. When you finish the canvas to the shoulder line, finish knitting the vest.

Step 9

Sew the front and back together by neat tricot seams along the sides and shoulders. Along the edge of the cutout, cast on the loops for the placket with the same knitting needles that you used to make the elastic at the bottom. In this example, a total of 130 stitches are obtained. Make the plank the same height as the elastic fabric of the lower edge of the product.
