Plastic bottles are readily available and cheap materials that are perfect for a variety of creative ideas. Original and colorful plastic crafts can take their rightful place in the interior of an apartment or when decorating a summer cottage, and their production will brighten up your leisure time.
Butterflies from a plastic bottle
For making butterflies, you will need a bottle made of light transparent plastic. Draw a butterfly stencil on a piece of paper or print it out on a printer. Cut the outline out of paper and attach it to the side of the bottle.
Circle the butterflies with a marker, then cut out the blanks with scissors. Arch your wings. Place the pattern on the butterfly's wings under the plastic. Outline the pattern with a stained glass path. While the outline is still damp, you can remove it with a cotton swab if the line is lost. Cut off the dried contour with the corner of the blade.
All outlined lines must be closed. Choose the right wing pattern.
Paint the pattern with stained glass paint. Accelerate it inside the contour with a brush so that there is an even distribution within the allotted zone. Since the wings are sloping, first paint one, only then move on to the other so that the colors do not flow.
Twist the tendrils out of thin wire for your craft. Lay out the body of the insect with beads. Glue them with Moment glue or use a hot glue gun. The wings can be decorated with small sparkles, pebbles or beads.
A butterfly from a plastic bottle can be added to a gift box, used as a toy for a Christmas tree, planted in a flower pot, or made as a decoration for a bouquet.
Zippered plastic case
A bottle of any color is useful to create a plastic case. Choose its volume depending on what you plan to put in it. Use a sharp knife to split the bottle above the middle in two. Sew a half zipper to each section. Zip it up to receive the cover.
Make a hole in the bottle cap. Pass a thick string through the hole and tie a knot. If necessary, you can tie the cover in the desired place or hang it by making a loop.
In such a case, it is convenient to store cutlery in the country, small stationery, nails, screws and other small construction tools.
Crumpled plastic vase
Making an original vase from a plastic bottle will require you to be careful. Cut the neck of the selected bottle with a sharp knife or scissors. Sand the cut with coarse sandpaper. Bring the kettle to a boil while you do your preparatory work on the plastic bottle. You will need boiling water.
Place the bottle in the sink. You will need two pieces of pliers or two forks. Grasp the neck of the bottle with pliers, pour boiling water from the kettle into it with the other hand. Hot water will soften the plastic and give in to molding. Use a fork or pliers to dents and folds the bottle. At the same time, firmly press your product to the bottom of the sink so that the bottom of the future vase is stable. Drain the water.
The cooled blank of a crumpled plastic vase must be painted. Cover the vase with dark acrylic paint for glass in two to three layers with intermediate drying. Paint over all creases and creases carefully. Contour small patterns if desired.
Draw some gold or silver paint on the tip of a dry brush. Cover all the raised parts of the vase with light strokes. The paint will add volume and nobility to your creation.
The vase is suitable for dried flowers. If you plan to put fresh flowers in it, cover it with a protective layer of varnish on top.
Device from a bottle for watering flowers
Choose the volume of the plastic bottle taking into account the size of the flower pot in which you will adapt it. Make several punctures in the plastic with a needle, positioning them below the middle of the bottle. Bury the prepared container halfway into the flower pot and add water. Now your plants will get enough moisture during dry times, and you can safely leave for a few days.
Flowers from a plastic bottle
Wash labels off the bottle. While it dries, draw a model of a flower with four or five petals on paper. Place the template on the wider part of the bottle and cut several pieces out of the plastic. The more there are, the more magnificent your flower will be.
Now you need to add volume to each petal. This can be done over a gas stove or over a candle, which means you need an open flame. Hold your blanks over the fire, gently turning each petal towards it so that it melts and curls slightly.
Collect your craft. Pierce the center of each piece with an awl. String all the prepared elements on the wire, forming a flower out of them. With round nose pliers, make a loop in the middle of the flower so that the blanks do not pop out. Wrap the wire with green type tape, which is used in floristry and has an adhesive effect. You will get stems that look like real ones. Corrugated paper can be used instead of type tape.
Paint the resulting flower from an aerosol can or with acrylic paints on glass. In the center of the plastic flower, glue one large or several small beads.
