Previously, only cathedrals, mansions of the rich, theaters were decorated with stained glass windows, but now this technique is available to almost everyone. You can decorate doors, balconies and loggias with stained glass windows, and much more. The materials for the stained-glass windows are various paints and colored glass.
It is necessary
- - finished drawing;
- - a sheet of glass of the required size;
- - steklograph;
- - special paints for painting on glass;
- - brushes, which are necessarily soft and of good quality (it is also advisable to rinse them beforehand in order to prevent the pile from coming out during work);
- - contour paste in a tube (imitates a lead tape, which is used in stained-glass windows, and also allows you to define clear contours for a drawing).
Instructions
Step 1
There are several ways to make good stained glass windows. Unfortunately, most of them are not very suitable for creating stained glass at home. They are used mainly in specialized workshops. To make a stained glass window at home, use the following method - the so-called imitation of a stained glass window. Imitation involves painting on glass with special paints that do not require heat treatment.
Step 2
Before you start painting on glass, first clean the surface to be painted. To do this, use lukewarm water or an alcohol-based cleaner.
Step 3
Then, using a pencil on the glass (it is called just a steklograph), apply a drawing on the previously dried surface of the glass. If it is difficult to apply a drawing directly to the surface of the glass, try drawing it first on a sheet of white paper. After that, it can be placed under the glass and the drawing can be copied already on it.
Step 4
Simulate lead contouring paste (usually comes in tubes for convenience). Separate areas of the drawing that are different in color.
Step 5
Then wait a while - let the contour dry.
Step 6
Now, with gentle and light strokes of a soft brush, begin to apply paint. If you want to make the color more saturated, simply lay in several coats of paint, waiting for each previous coat to dry before applying the next.
