Stained glass is a magical, colored glass that transforms the light it passes through into something magical. Stained glass manufacturing technology is very complicated. As a rule, a stained-glass window is made from separate pieces of glass, fastened with a special profile. There are techniques for imitating stained glass windows, one of which is glass painting.
It is necessary
- - glass;
- - stained glass paints;
- - contours for glass;
- - gloves, paper;
- - pencil;
- - marker;
- - alcohol or acetone;
- - cotton swabs;
- - a toothpick.
Instructions
Step 1
You need to decide on the pattern on the glass and draw a stencil on paper. The lines should be thick, distinct, and the lines should be clearly visible through the glass. The easiest way is to choose a pattern for flat glass. It is difficult to find a drawing for a volumetric glass product. It should look good on a convex surface and not distort due to the shape of the glass.
Step 2
Degrease the glass surface with alcohol, acetone or nail polish remover. To do this, apply the product to a clean, soft cloth (lint-free) and wipe the glass.
Step 3
Place a stencil under the glass and start painting. First you need to apply the contour. The line must be straight and continuous, otherwise the paint will flow out of the outline.
Step 4
The outline color can be changed. There should be no distance in the place where the outline color changes. The line of one contour should be closely connected to the line of the other contour.
Step 5
After the contour is dry, apply the paint. Colors can be mixed directly on the glass. The paint must be applied in an even layer from the bottle. For drawing on flat, horizontal glass, the brush can be omitted. When paint is applied to the glass surface with a brush, defects often appear in the paint layer.
Step 6
This vase was painted with a brush. It can be seen that the paint layer is defective.
Step 7
Dry the stained glass paint in a well-ventilated area for at least a day. The paint smells very strong.
