Any pattern is based on a sequential alternation of geometric shapes - circles, triangles or straight lines. It is best to use watercolors or gouache paints to create a simple ornament.

It is necessary

  • - album sheet;
  • - gouache or watercolor;
  • - squirrel hair brush (no. 2, 3, 4).

Instructions

Step 1

Select the "step width", that is, the spatial interval through which the pattern will be repeated. It largely depends on the width of the ornament, if it is a track.

Step 2

Start with the simplest shapes - dots or circles. Dip a brush in paint and paint these ornamental patterns at regular intervals. Don't forget to add colors so that all shapes are evenly colored.

Step 3

Choose a different shade of paint and connect the drawn elements with main lines to make a path. To create simple, short lines, touch the tip of the brush to the paper, and then place it in the direction you want it to form an oval-like mark. With this technique, you can draw horizontal, vertical, or oblique stripes.

Step 4

Complicate the pattern by drawing curved lines with a brush. Follow two rules. Firstly, the new elements of the ornament should not come into contact with the previously drawn ones. Secondly, the drawing should be symmetrical with respect to the figures that form the basis of the pattern. That is, either all the lines should be inclined to the right, or alternately change direction.

Step 5

Complete the pattern with small elements. You can draw stars, crow's feet, three short strokes, triangles or half rings. To do this, use a new paint color. Make sure that on each segment of the ornament there are the same number of additional shapes. Keep in mind, it is better to use no more than three or four shades of paint in creating a simple pattern, otherwise the drawing will be too variegated and "heavy" for perception.

Step 6

If you wish, you can add plant elements to the ornament - leaves, flowers, grapes or rowan berries. The image of these details should be simple, without unnecessary sketches.
