Painting a window will help solve two problems at once: hide the unsightly view from the window and decorate the room from the inside. Depending on what goal you want to achieve, fill most of the glass with the pattern or just a small portion of it.

It is necessary

  • window cleaner;
  • - paper;
  • - pencil;
  • - scissors;
  • - gouache;
  • - brush;
  • - contour for glass;
  • - stained glass paints

Instructions

Step 1

Wash the window thoroughly. Do not neglect this stage of the work, even if it seems to you that the glass is clean: dust particles caught under the paint in one place can spoil the impression of the whole picture. If the window cleaner is alcohol-based, it will be an additional plus, because the glass must be degreased before painting.

Step 2

Sketch the pattern on a piece of paper. Think over not only the shape of the picture, but also its color. Divide the drawing into zones with different colors so that you know where to put the outline strip while you work.

Step 3

You can transfer the drawing to the glass by hand or using a stencil. In the first case, use a thin gouache brush to draw outlines, departing from the place where they should be, 2-3 mm, so that later wash off the sketch without damaging the finished drawing. A sketch prepared on paper can be used as a stencil: cut out the areas that will be painted over, and circle the contours by attaching the sheet to the glass.

Step 4

Apply a stained glass outline to the window. It prevents the fill from spreading and serves as a decorative function. Choose an outline of any suitable color: matching the color of the picture or contrasting. Press down on the tube with the composition evenly and move it at a constant speed so that the line is the same thickness. If you overshot slightly and draw the outline in the wrong place, immediately "move" the fresh paste with a cotton swab. Wait for the circuit to dry (the time is indicated on the package).

Step 5

Fill the areas outlined with the outline with paints on the glass. First, fill in the parts for which the color is in the set of paints in its pure form. Then, in a separate bowl, mix the complex shades in small amounts so that they don't dry out. For greater transparency, you can add a special thinner varnish to the mixture.

Step 6

Apply the paint to the glass with soft squirrel hair brushes. To give an unusual texture, you can replace them with a foam sponge. The borders between colors can be lightly rubbed with a brush and allowed to blend for a smooth color transition.

Step 7

Leave the drawing to dry. It will become strong enough in a couple of days, and it will be possible to wash the window without danger to the pattern in about three months.
