Sewing a hat from a silver fox with your own hands is an extremely responsible business, because you have to work with expensive natural material. Mistakes are unacceptable here - a fur product is always made clean. So that the appearance of the finished headdress does not disappoint you, select high-quality raw materials and accurately follow the basic recommendations of experienced furriers and seamstresses. Before starting work, stock up on the necessary professional tools.

Instructions
Step 1
Buy only high quality and factory-made silver fox skins. Good headwear material (shiny, soft and stretchy) can be found in professional ateliers employing an experienced furrier. You can also make a good purchase in the fur market (there are also factory products there), but it is recommended to go there with a knowledgeable person.
Step 2
Make accurate calculations of the pattern and size of the hat you need to stock up on enough fur. Natural skin (even of excellent manufacture) can have a natural natural "marriage": some discrepancies in the main color, in the length of the pile, small seals on the skin, etc. It is always best to have a small supply of working material.
Step 3
Measure the fox fur from the ears to the base of the tail - it should be about 85 to 100 cm long. The wider it is, the better. Choose the color of the skin to your taste. Usually, hats with a predominance of silver (rather than black) tones are considered more decorative.
Step 4
Prepare a blank of a suitable size for sewing a silver fox hat. You should measure its thickness in the most voluminous place and correlate the result with the size of the head. For example, using a shoe with a circumference of 74 cm, you can sew a fur hat for a head circumference of 74-77 cm. If you want to resize an existing pattern, remember: the base of the hat (the main part of the hat) is made up of the head size plus an additional couple of centimeters.
Step 5
Draw a paper template based on the silver fox hat pattern. Flip the skin inside out and lightly moisten the skin with lightly salted water using a soft bristled brush or shaving brush.
Step 6
Gently stretch the fur in different directions and nail it in the corners to the wooden surface, always from the wrong side. Use thin, long studs. This is necessary so that the pile part of the silver fox does not crumple during cutting, and the headdress turns out to be more fluffy.
Step 7
Wait until the leather fabric is completely dry and only then circle the template with chalk. At the same time, carefully monitor the location of the pile. To cut the back of the headdress and the underside of the parts, lay the skin with a pile from top to bottom; for the front parts (such as the visor, ears, front of the cap), the growth of the pile should be from the bottom to the top.
Step 8
Cut the flesh only with a special furrier's or clerical knife, or a very sharp razor blade. The seam allowances are about 0.5 cm.
Step 9
Begin sewing the furs from the wrong side with a buttonhole seam, or use frequent overstitching. First connect the parts of the cap; you can sew a narrow tape along its edge. Then proceed with the rest of the headdress.
Step 10
Try not to catch the villi with the threads - if they do press down with a stitch, carefully pull them out with a needle.
Step 11
Cut out the lining using your basic work pattern. To the size of the cap, cut out a pad of batting and gauze and quilt the layers: the dolnik - with a vertical stitch, the bottom of the cap - round.
Step 12
Sew the finished lining with a blind seam to the bottom and the inner edge of the cap details.
