Squid is an excellent and deliciously tasty seafood (fried squid is preferred by many). It can also make an excellent bait for other sea creatures. Anyone can learn to catch squid using simple techniques.
It is necessary
- - Fishing rod / spinning rod with a fishing line;
- - hook with bait or shrimps;
- - container with ice;
- - net;
- - boat / boat.
Instructions
Step 1
Choose a suitable location. Squids are found in the oceans. Before sending it is important to consult with the fishermen, also visit the form on the topic and ask knowledgeable people where they caught squid. As long as the water is not too shallow (some experts say 4.5 meters is the most optimal), you can count on catching from the pier or rocky shores. Also, you are able to simply catch squid from a boat (ship), overtaking large populations of this species. Look for areas with rocks, sea plants, or other similar areas that make good hiding places for squid.
Step 2
Go catch early in the morning. Early evening is also fine. The most optimal weather is warm. The season is spring and summer.
Step 3
Prepare your lines. Use a squid hook, which is akin to a fishing one, except that it has a few "thornless" prongs from the main shaft. It can be baited with small fish or shrimp (small bright fish). Tackle and accessories for squid can be bought in a specialized store or ordered online.
Step 4
Cast the rod with the squid bait attached and let the spoon sink slowly under the water. If you are sailing in a boat or speedboat, move slowly, trying to cover new fishing positions. Make sure that the spoon goes as deep under the water as possible. This will increase your chances of catching a larger squid.
Step 5
Shake the rod a little to get the squid's attention. If after a few minutes they do not appear, attach new bait to the hook. Start winding the lure as soon as you feel that the squid has grabbed the bait. Hold your rod firmly so you don't miss your prey.
Step 6
Place the squid in the net. Because they can easily slip out of other containers. Then place them in an ice-filled container for safe storage until arrival.
