Topiary in horticulture is skillfully trimmed tree crowns in the form of a ball or other geometric or fantasy figure. From garden design, they migrated to the interiors of houses and became their original decoration. A decorative topiary can be made from anything: natural and artificial flowers, boxwood twigs, ribbons, paper, chupa-chups, candy wrappers and so on. It is believed that handmade topiary brings good luck, good mood and even money to the house.

Instructions
Step 1
Cut out a blank for topiary in the form of a ball from the foam. Also on sale you can find ready-made balls for topiary made of expanded polystyrene. As a replacement, you can make a ball out of cork, or for living plants from a floral sponge.
Step 2
Prepare a container in which the tree will "grow". It can be an ordinary flower pot, a bucket, a beautiful mug, a decanter or a jar of sweets, that is, any container in which the topiary will look organic.
Step 3
Fill the container with something heavy, such as stones. You can use expanded clay. If the pot is too light, reinforce the base with plaster. Dilute it to the state of sour cream and pour it into a pot. Insert the tree trunk and leave until the plaster is completely cured.
Step 4
Now start creating the crown. To make it from fresh flowers and twigs, cut off the stems. After you insert them into the ball, only the bud and leaves should remain on its surface. Insert the flowers into a damp floral sponge tightly to each other.
Step 5
For a coffee tree, glue the coffee beans to a Styrofoam ball using hot glue. Arrange them in a chaotic manner.
Step 6
To make a fruit or candy topiary, insert a toothpick into each fruit (or candy). Then stick them into the crown blank.
Step 7
A wonderful gift for those with a sweet tooth - topiary made of chupa-chups. Cut squares of the same size using brown or corrugated paper. Wrap them around lollipops. Insert the lollipops into the foam base. Add fake flowers, hearts, or small stuffed toys.
Step 8
Topiary made of satin ribbons are very cute. Cut them into pieces of equal length and twist them to make buds. Tie them together at the bottom with a few stitches using thread and a needle. Glue the flowers to the ball, placing them as close to each other as possible. Topiary made of ribbons of the same color, but of different shades, look beautiful.
Step 9
Stick a wooden skewer into the prepared crown. You can use a pencil or a regular branch instead. Insert the structure into the container with stones. If you have fixed the stick in the pot with plaster of paris, then slide the ball over it.
Step 10
Wrap the stick with ribbons or thick yarn of a suitable shade. Tie a nice bow in the middle of the trunk. Decorate the surface of the pot with moss, decorative glass pebbles.
