Topiary is a small artificial tree that is an element of decoration. You can make it yourself from almost any available materials. Most importantly, add a little imagination and get creative with the process.
Any topiary consists of four main elements:
- the foundation;
- trunk;
- crown;
- a pot.
As a rule, a ball is taken as a base. And to create a more romantic tree - a heart. To create such forms, polystyrene, polyurethane foam or papier-mâché are taken.
If the topiary is made as a gift for a wedding anniversary or birthday, then the base can be presented in the form of a number or letter. When creating, it is better to use cardboard or thick wire.
You can use various methods to create a tree trunk. The easiest is to take a regular branch. It is necessary to remove the bark from it and varnish it.
A thick wire is also used, which is wrapped with twine or floral tape.
The crown of the topiary is a huge scope for any imagination. You can use everything that is possible: coffee beans, corrugated paper or napkins, felt, beads, ribbons, organza, decorative elements (artificial flowers, butterflies, bows, etc.), various natural materials (cones, leaves, branches, acorns, etc.) and much more.
Depending on the size of the tree, a stand is selected for it. An ordinary flower pot is most often used. It can be decorated with lace or fabric. If the tree is very small, then you can take a flat stone or shell as a stand. You will need a glue gun to securely hold the barrel.
There are a lot of options for creating topiary. Most importantly, almost any material will work for this creative process.
