Cross stitching is one of the most common types of needlework. This is not difficult to learn, but the quality of the work will depend on how accurately the requirements of the chosen scheme are met.

It is necessary

  • - fabric or canvas;
  • - picture;
  • - embroidery hoop;
  • - floss;
  • - needle;
  • - scissors.

Instructions

Step 1

When cross stitching, always select a base with an equal number of threads in height and width. For beginner embroiderers, it is better to use a canvas, a fabric specially designed for embroidery.

Step 2

For convenience, it is better to pull the work over the hoop - a special frame for embroidery.

Step 3

Prepare the floss and embroidery needle. A thread of floss consists of 6 separate threads. The length is about 8 m. Perform the crosses in several strands: the number of folds may be different, but it is better to have 2-3 of them.

Step 4

Do not knot when embroidering. Tack the thread under the stitches to hide the tip, both at the beginning of embroidery and at the end.

Step 5

Embroider the cross stitch in two steps: first embroider the required number of the lower stitches, then end the crosses with the upper stitches.

Try to immediately get used to sewing the bottom cross stitches from the top left to the bottom right. If all the top stitches are in the same direction, then the embroidery will be more visible.

Step 6

It is more convenient to learn embroidery when a colored pattern has already been applied to the fabric. A beginner needlewoman can only sew up multi-colored squares with threads of the corresponding color.

Step 7

If you use a symbolic scheme, you will have to spend a little more time. A specific symbol corresponds to crosses of each color. Select one character and follow the pattern to sew the pattern with the appropriate color of thread. Gradually move from an area of one color to another. For convenience, you can cross out the embroidered places from the diagram with a pencil so as not to be distracted from the rest of the work.
