Step 1
When embroidering, threads must be very carefully and firmly fastened inside the stitches. This is necessary so that the embroidery looks neat, is even, without bumps and does not unravel during washing. Also, the thread can cling to the knots during the embroidery process, which can be very disturbing.
Step 2
The first method of securing the thread is suitable if the embroidery is planned with an even number of threads. For example, if you are embroidering with two threads, you need to take a single piece of thread to do this, but the length should be twice as long as you would normally embroider and fold in half. Then you need to insert the thread into the needle so that the cut ends go into the eyelet, and at the end the thread is solid. At the beginning of embroidery, insert the needle from the wrong side, but do not pull the entire thread to the right side, but hold the loop.
After that, you need to bring the needle next to the wrong side and thread it into the loop. It remains only to tighten the loop and continue to embroider further according to the pattern.
Step 3
The next method will work for you when using any number of threads. In this case, the beginning of the thread is hidden under the stitches. To do this, you need to start embroidery from the wrong side and leave a tail of thread about three centimeters long there. After that, you need to make the stitches in such a way that the tail is captured by the stitches and the thread closes. If the tail is too long, you can cut it off. Just make sure that at least two centimeters of thread is fastened, otherwise the embroidery may unravel.
Step 4
Another way to secure the thread is with a temporary knot. This method is justified if the tail of the thread bothers you too much when embroidering. To do this, you make a temporary knot on the thread, which does not allow your embroidery to unravel, but when you finish embroidery in this segment, with the help of a needle, hide the tail in the already finished crosses from the seamy side.
