Is it worth it to do a caption under the picture? Of course, yes, if you want to somehow indicate what is happening in the photo. A photo without a signature is just a picture, with a signature - a document, a story.
Remember yourself when you go to the social. Network on the page of a friend or relative. After a short run through the feed of recent events with the user you are interested in, your gaze is directed to his album with photos.
