The traditional papier-mâché technique involves making a variety of crafts - masks, toys, paper jewelry. The term "papier-mâché" itself can be translated as "chewed paper". From this very simple material it will turn out to make very beautiful crafts. You can also create geometric shapes for visual aids, such as a ball that might decorate your Christmas tree.

It is necessary

  • - paper (regular newspaper or toilet paper is fine);
  • - glue (PVA, wallpaper glue, self-made paste from flour or starch);
  • - glue brushes;
  • - plasticine for the form;
  • - water.

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare all the necessary materials for work, arrange for yourself a workplace in a bright and comfortable corner. First, you need to make a small ball out of plasticine (the diameter of the ball is about 5 cm). Use this ball as a shape. Next, cut it into two halves. Your toy will be made in two pieces.

Step 2

Cut or tear the prepared paper into small pieces. Then put all the pieces in a container, then add glue there. Perhaps the glue will be too thick - then it is worth adding a little water. Stir all this well so that you end up with a homogeneous mass.

Step 3

Place the first layer of soaked paper on the half of the ball. Glue the first layer. In order for the paper ball to simply lag behind the plasticine later, you need to thoroughly soak this layer with water. Allow the first coat to dry slightly before applying the next coat. The pasting is done gradually, layer by layer, the previous layer is well lubricated with glue using a brush. Also prepare the second half of the ball.

Step 4

Complete drying of the future ball is done after all layers have been applied. Please note that your future ball should dry only in its natural environment. If you dry it "express method", for example, in the oven, then the product may end up being deformed. The product will dry in the open air for about a day.

Step 5

After drying, the product can be slightly tweaked with your hands or a knife. Next, the two halves need to be glued, after which several more layers of paper should be applied to the already round ball. After all the manipulations, we get a round Christmas ball.
