Old paper is a great creative material. It can be used for scrapbooking, retro style albums and photographs, ancient scrolls and cards. There are several ways to artificially age paper at home.
It is necessary
- - black leaf tea;
- - instant coffee;
- - hot water;
- - milk;
- - iron;
- - matches or a lighter.
Instructions
Step 1
One of the most popular techniques is paper soaking in tea leaves. Pour 5 tablespoons of black leaf tea with a glass of boiling water and let it brew. Instead of tea, you can use coffee in the ratio: 10 teaspoons of instant coffee to a glass of boiled water. The richer the solution, the darker the paper will be. Strain the infusion and pour the resulting liquid into the tray. Place a piece of paper in there. It can be pre-crumpled to make your piece more historical. After five minutes, remove the paper from the tray and lay it on a flat surface to dry. To speed up the drying process, it is recommended to iron the sheet with an iron.
Step 2
You can use milk to age the paper. To do this, apply milk to the sheet on both sides with a cotton swab. After it dries a little, iron it gently with an iron. If you hold the resulting paper over a hot stove, you can get very picturesque scorch marks, which will give your product a special chic. Remember to take precautions when working with open flames.
Step 3
A very effective, but more time-consuming, method of aging paper by the sun. To do this, place the required number of sheets in front of direct sunlight. After a few days, your paper will naturally turn yellow and look like a rare document.
Step 4
Once you've gotten your old paper, you can make it look even more believable. To do this, rub the leaf in several places with coffee granules. This will make it uneven in color. Then gently light the edges with matches or a lighter.
Step 5
If desired, you can age the book with any of the proposed options. To do this, you need to immerse each page in the solution and iron it with an iron. Only after the sheet has completely dried can you proceed to the next one. The process will take quite a long time, but you can become the owner of a rare book edition.
