There are a huge variety of nods in stores. They differ in many ways. The choice of tackle should be based on your own preferences, the type of fish and the method of catching it.
There is a wide variety of nods for winter fishing. They differ in design and fishing method. Depending on what type of fish is supposed to be caught, this type of tackle is selected.
Design
Structurally nods are simple and complex. Both are used in certain circumstances.
Crossbow
This nod resembles the weapon of the same name. The structure is based on a steel wire frame with a diameter of 0.9 mm. The shoulder span is 50 mm and the total width is 70 mm. The elastic band, which is located between the shoulders, serves as a shock absorber. It is used for catching shy fish - bream and crucian carp.
Shcherbakova
This is a balance nod, more intended to signal a bite than to play with bait. Its work is based on the balance of the tackle, which is why it is called balance. On one part of it there is a weight that compensates for all rigs located in the water. The fish, raising or lowering the bait, moves the sinker. Due to counterweight compensation, the prey does not feel a catch for a long time, and therefore calmly swallows the bait. Meanwhile, the fisherman sees the bite by the movement of the load.
Mechanical
These are ordinary nods, the characteristics of which depend on the properties of the material and the actions of the fisherman. They are a strip of various materials with a hole or a ring at the end. The weight of the gear in the water is compensated by the elasticity of the nod. For different fish, gatehouses with different parameters are used.
Electronic
These nods are made from any material. Automates the bait game, which is convenient for novice fishermen. A convenient device, the disadvantage is that it reduces the sporting component of fishing. Best for catching bass.
Fishing method
According to this criterion, nods are distinguished:
- for lure;
- for jig;
- for rewinder;
- for the balancer.
For lure
When trolling, playing with the bait is practically unnecessary, and therefore the nod is only a bite signaling device. For this, fishing methods should be chosen short and hard nods.
On the jig
The jig can be the main bait that attracts fish with its play, or it can only be a load under which the nozzle is delivered to the depth. Therefore, a nod is needed for each case.
For active play, a firm nod is required, which will bend under the weight of the bait by no more than 30 degrees. Usually thin lavsan nods with a length of no more than 10 cm are chosen.
To lower the bait to the bottom, a soft, long, sensitive nod is required, which signals a bite in time.
To the rewinder
The lavsan nod is ideal, since such fishing takes place in a quiet place at a shallow depth. In this case, a lavsan nod will provide the desired play with a non-attachment jig.
IMPORTANT! Before you go fishing, test the nod in a shallow body of water or tub.
For balancer
There is a heated debate about the need to use a nod in balance fishing. Some people advise using rigid gatehouses made of various materials. The most important thing is that it is matched to the weight of the bait. Others insist that a nod is not required for this type of fishing. The main thing here is to correctly choose the extensibility of the fishing line for the weight of the load.
Consequences of the wrong choice of nod
The most common are plastic nods with a lavsan component. Care should be taken when choosing. If the plastic is cut across the grain, then the nod will break at low temperatures.
The shape of the nod should correspond as much as possible to the shape of a beam of equal resistance, i.e.it should have a wide base and a narrow tip. Otherwise, a uniform bend along its entire length is not ensured. This will make it impossible to play with a jig. The vibration frequency cannot be adjusted. As a result, there will be no bite, or the fish will break off.
Many consider the nod to be a minor detail. However, the success of fishing largely depends on the choice of equipment, and therefore one should approach it responsibly. Experienced anglers, before going to test the nod in "combat" conditions, test it in the bathroom or basin at home to make the correct setting.
