Despite the fact that both a spinning rod and a fishing rod are tools for fishing, the principle of their operation is quite different. A spinning rod is a much more technologically advanced device than a conventional fishing rod.
The prototype of the fishing rod appeared in ancient times, because people needed to provide themselves with food, and hunting and gathering were not always successful. The rod was gradually improved, becoming less visible and heavy. Fishing rods were used for fishing both from the shore and from the boat.
Any fishing rod consists of a rod, which can be up to five meters in length, fishing line and equipment, that is, a float, a sinker, a hook and other devices. In the past, rods were predominantly made of wood; nowadays, rods can be made of plastic or chipped bamboo, which is known for its strength and lightness. Now there are a huge number of varieties of fishing rods, while the design principle has not changed. Some modern rods have reels, but most rods do just fine without them.
Spinning is a much later invention. It is believed to have come into use in the mid-19th century in England. The first spinning rods were not equipped with reels. Modern spinning rod consists of a rod with rings through which the fishing line passes, and a reel. Spinning rods rarely exceed 2 meters in length. Their rods have to be very strong and flexible, which is why modern options are made from fiberglass or carbon fiber. Spinning rods are not equipped with floats and a separate sinker, as it is built into the bait.
Fishing with a rod is a passive method. The fisherman throws a fishing rod into the water and watches the float, waiting for a bite. As soon as the float begins to twitch, the fisherman hooks up the prey and pulls it ashore. This fishing method requires a high level of concentration and constant observation of the float can be very tiring. For fishing with a line, different types of bait are used, which are attached to the hook to attract the fish. Earthworms, corn, breadcrumb and more can be used as bait.
Spinning fishing is definitely not passive. It should be noted that predatory fish are most often caught on spinning. The fact is that the bait during this method of fishing must constantly move, attracting the attention of predatory fish that begin to hunt it. The constant movement of the bait, which plays the role of bait, is achieved due to the fact that the angler, having cast the spinning rod, immediately begins to spin the reel, winding up the fishing line. To speed up the movement of the lure, various types of reels with one or more transmission links are used.
