Halloween is one of the most spectacular holidays on the planet. This holiday is most popular in America, but thanks to globalization, the fashion for it has spread throughout the world.
Such a dark, such a cheerful holiday
In English-speaking countries on October 31, on the eve of the Catholic Day of All Saints, children and adults dress up as witches, ghouls and other evil spirits and go to wander the streets, begging for candy from neighbors and bystanders. This is Halloween, an ancient holiday that appears to date back to pagan times.
It is believed that Halloween originated in Scotland and Ireland, inhabited by the ancient Celts, who celebrated the pagan holiday of Samhain. Initially, this holiday had, first of all, an agricultural meaning: the word “Samhain” itself is translated from Old Irish as “end of summer”. Only many centuries later, after the adoption of Christianity by Ireland, Samhain began to be associated with dark, gloomy forces: from the point of view of Christian morality, everything that is associated with paganism has a demonic nature.
The holiday got its modern name from the English phrase "All Hallows Even" - in Russian "All Saints' Evening". This is the name of the night of November 1, when in the Catholic tradition it is customary to celebrate the Day of All Saints following Halloween.
Where can I get a suitable outfit?
Halloween today is, first of all, a great excuse to dress up in monster costumes, more funny than scary, and have fun at one of the most unusual parties of the year. In this regard, on Halloween, the problem of choosing a costume appears: I want to kill all my friends on the spot with my otherworldly appearance. Of course, you can buy or rent a ready-made suit. But it is much more interesting to create your own unique image yourself! But where can you get the original idea for a Halloween outfit?
Among the cute fairies, sexy witches and mysterious vampires that are traditionally present at any Halloween party in huge numbers, you rarely meet a person in a truly unusual costume. An original and uncomplicated idea - a costume of a real mummy, which seemed to have just emerged from the crypt after centuries of sleep.
All you need is a few packs of regular bandages and gauze from your nearest pharmacy, white underwear, threads, and inspiration. First, you need to sew a base from gauze - a kind of shirt and pants. You can simplify this task for yourself if you use a ready-made white T-shirt and, for example, white tights or leggings as a basis. Then the base is sheathed with bandages. This work does not require serious sewing skills, on the contrary: the more carelessly the suit is sewn, the more realistic it will look. The only thing worth paying attention to: the bandages must be sewn loosely, otherwise the outfit will turn out to be too tight. If it's hard to breathe in the suit, the party will be ruined.
All that remains is to add a few touches. So, it would be nice to paint your nails black: after lying for several centuries in a crypt, the mummy can hardly boast of a neat manicure. You can even smear your fingers and other exposed skin with PVA glue: this will create the effect of old skin, which will peel off in shreds. You should also pay attention to makeup. The mummy cannot sparkle with a healthy blush, so the make-up should be as dark as possible. If you pre-soak the costume in strong tea leaves, so that the bandages turn yellow and become covered with dark stains, the costume will look as realistic as possible.
