The originality of the carnival costume is limited only by your imagination and courage. If you are ready for extravagance and to some extent for shocking, sew an alien costume. The most common materials at hand will help make your image unearthly.

Instructions

Step 1

First of all, make the upper part of the costume - the mask. It is easiest to make it using the papier-mâché technique. Crumple a large sheet of foil into a ball about the size of your head. Make the bottom of the ball flat by pressing it against the table. Knead a large piece of sculptural plasticine in your hands, and then roll it into a layer 1-1.5 cm thick.

Step 2

Put a layer on your head and start sculpting the mask. First, use your fingers to form a "cap" - a part of the mask that will cover the back of the head and go down to the forehead in front. Then sculpt the front part, repeating the shape of the eyes and bridge of the nose. You can make the mask longer, but in this case, you may be uncomfortable wearing it.

Step 3

Remove the plasticine blank and slide it over the foil ball. Trim the edges of the mask at the back and front by cutting off the outline with a clerical knife. Tear the thin white paper into small pieces. Put it on the mask in layers, alternately wetting the paper with PVA glue, then with water. Try to follow the shape of the workpiece as closely as possible so that the mask fits your face perfectly. For durable papier-mâché, 8-9 layers of paper will be enough. Leave the mask to dry for at least a day.

Step 4

At this time, prepare the rest of the alien costume. As a base, you will need a turtleneck and leggings or skinny pants. Their color should correspond to your ideas about the appearance of an alien - choose a traditional green suit or distinguish yourself with lilac, orange, etc.

Step 5

Collect 10-15 unwanted CDs with a mirror finish. Grind them into pieces of 1-2 cm in size. Pre-wrap each disc in a dense cloth, and only then break it with your hands, pliers or a hammer.

Step 6

Sketch the patterns on the suit. Therefore, lay out the "mirror" fragments in the sketch, attaching each piece with a glue gun. Add fabric paints to the drawing on the suit. Get one or two matching metallic colors and paint the missing elements of the pattern with a synthetic brush.

Step 7

Buy acrylic paint to match your suit. Use it to paint part of the mask without touching the area below the eyebrows. On this part, in a different color (for example, dark metallic), paint the large eyes of the alien. Cover the mask with the remaining mirror shards, if desired. Make two small holes in the mask at eye level.

Step 8

To give your hands an unearthly look, buy gloves in a matching color a couple of sizes larger than your brush size. Fill the free part of the fingers in the glove with foam rubber. If you plan to use the suit in a warm environment, replace gloves with face painting evenly applied to your hands. They can also paint the neck and face.
