Cross-stitching is a very exciting activity, although it requires a lot of perseverance and patience. It is easy to master the basic principles of embroidery. You can even do this yourself, without attending courses and master classes.

Instructions
Step 1
Prepare everything you need for work. Choose a pattern, but it's better to get a cross stitch kit, as it has everything you need. Your first tutorial shouldn't be too difficult, pick up a small drawing that uses multiple colors.
Step 2
Study the embroidery pattern. It is lined with small squares that correspond to one cross of the embroidery. For ease of use, the scheme is usually lined up into larger squares with a size of 10x10 crosses. They are highlighted with bold lines on the embroidery chart. Draw these lines with a special marker on the canvas and hoop it.
Step 3
Usually they embroider floss - with special threads designed for this type of needlework. They are made in frames and consist of 6 folds. Cross stitch requires 2 or 3 folds of thread. Measure the required length of thread, cut it and carefully pull out one thread at a time. Then fold them together and insert into the needle.
Step 4
When embroidering with a cross, it is not customary to make knots on a thread. It is fixed on the canvas in the following way. Insert the needle from the right side, then grab one thread of the fabric and sew 2 stitches in one place. Thus, the thread will be firmly fixed, and there will be no knots on the seamy side of the work.
Step 5
Next, practice doing a cross. Make a puncture with a needle, pull the thread to the front of the canvas, then stick it into the upper left hole of the square. Pull the thread back to the right side through the lower right hole and continue to cross the diagonals from left to right. Then sew in reverse, making diagonals from opposite corners. The thread should be pulled evenly so that it does not sag and pull the fabric.
Step 6
To start embroidering with threads of a different color, select the area of the canvas that is adjacent to the one already embroidered (on the side or above it). Secure with two stitches of a different color of thread and continue to sew diagonally. To make the embroidery neat, the diagonals of the crosses should be in the same direction.
Step 7
At the end of the work, a floss of one shade must be fastened to the thread. Pull it through the stitches on the wrong side and trim carefully. The thread will be firmly attached, and there will be no knots on the wrong side. Having mastered the basic principles of stitching and having completed 2-3 simple embroideries, you can already proceed to making more complex products.
