Already from the very name "ribbon lace" it is clear that you will have to deal with openwork stripes that are crocheted. This method is very similar to knitting from individual motifs. You need to think about how to fasten the strips in advance. The scheme of their implementation depends on this.

Step 1
You can come up with the pattern of the ribbon lace motif by yourself. Tie a chain of, for example, 8 chain stitches and close it in a circle with a half-column. Make 2-3 air loops on the rise. Knit the second row with double crochets in a ring so that you get a circle. The columns should be evenly spaced so that the drawing is not wrinkled or too stretched. Do uphill loops at the beginning of each row. Their number depends on the thickness of the threads. The circle can be of any size, it depends on the purpose of the product. You can knit ribbon lace, for example, from just two or three large circles. In this way, stitches and even sleeves are knitted.
Step 2
The main petal (most of the initial motive) takes up 2/3 of the circle or so. Count the total number of stitches in the ring. Count the upward loops in 1 column. Find 2/3 of this amount. If you cannot get an integer, round to the nearest. Up or down - in this case it doesn't matter. Work the next circle, making equal groups of 2-3 double crochets, and between them - arcs over the two columns of the previous row. Calculate to end the third row with an arc. In the fourth row, knit the stitches above the stitches, and in the arcs - groups of 3-4 double crochets. Knit the last row of the motif with columns or half columns. The number of rows must be odd.
Step 3
Move on to the next motive. Tie an arc of air loops and fasten the other end of it so that it covers the segment knitted with solid double crochets and the group that you knitted into the arc. Repeat the drawing of the first motive, counting the number of posts and arcs for 2/3 of the circle. After knitting the last row, you should return to the attachment point of the first and second motifs.
Step 4
Move on to the third motive. Start it in the same way as the second one, with a chain of chain stitches. Tie a chain of the same number of loops from which you started the second motif. Fasten the second end so that it covers 2 segments of the second motive. Then knit according to the picture. Sew the strip to the desired length.
Step 5
It is most convenient to fasten a ribbon lace with a needle. Sew the motifs with the same thread from which they are knitted. Before that, they must be laid out on a pattern. Individual fragments can be linked. But at the same time, it is better not to tie the last row of the scheme when performing the actual strips. If you yourself come up with a ribbon lace pattern, then the number of rows can be varied.
