Knitting from ribbon (ribbon) yarn is an easy way to quickly make a spectacular product or its decorative elements (ruffles, frills, cuffs and collars). Among needlewomen, a textured ribbon-braid is especially popular, along the upper edge of which a special thread is stretched in an arc-like manner. It is she who participates in the execution of the loops. Products made from this fancy material turn out to be weightless and especially lush.
It is necessary
- - a skein of ribbon yarn;
- - thick needles No. 8-15;
- - iron with steam function or steamer.
Instructions
Step 1
Try to knit one of the simplest products from ribbon yarn - a fluffy scarf (frill). A sample of this work can later be used for various items of clothing, such as the lower flounce of a skirt (dress) or cuffs of sleeves. Typically, a 100 gram skein of viscose, polyester or cotton braid is enough for a medium-length scarf. It is recommended to take thick knitting needles, numbers from 8 to 15 - otherwise the beauty of the tape will be lost, and the work will become more difficult.
Step 2
The principle of knitting from ribbon yarn is simple: with the right, working, knitting needle, the upper edge arcs are captured. Depending on the desired shape of the product, you can knit the threads-arcs with front loops through one or two (thick folds); grab each loop - then the ruffles will not turn out so rich.
Step 3
When you decide on the appearance of the future frill, string the upper long loops on a straight knitting needle with a certain frequency (for example, every second). Stretch the end of the ribbon yarn to make the arcs easier to see. Insert the needle under the thread with a movement from right to left and towards you; move the tool with the formed loop away from you and continue to work further along the pattern.
Step 4
Knit the first thread arch of the row with the usual front one, while inserting the right knitting needle behind the upper wall of the loop. In the future, also do not remove the edging.
Step 5
When working with fancy yarns, carefully unwind the skein so that the ribbon does not twist into a spiral. The fabric of the scarf should be the same on both sides, so make straight and back rows with knit stitches only. In this case, always start the braid for work.
Step 6
If you want to knit several rows of ruffles (for example, for the bottom of a skirt), it is recommended to work in two strands. Perform two rows of fabrics with ribbon yarn, a couple of the next - with thin cotton to match the fancy braid. In this case, the folds will form in neat waves.
Step 7
Perform one-sided ribbon yarn product with knit stitches from the “face” of the fabric, purl stitches from the back of the work. In the seamy rows, the braid should always lie in front of the canvas! Do not forget to secure the pieces of working thread well so that your lush outfit does not bloom.
