The film features a good acting ensemble.

About the performers of the main roles - Sergei Bezrukov and Elizaveta Boyarskaya - the filming directors had no disputes. The only difficult issue was their direct presence on the set and the alignment of their schedules due to the heavy workload of the actors.

The leading actor immediately appreciated the script, he said that the film should be really worthwhile. The actor had a great desire to act, which made it easier to work in a team. Sergey Bezrukov is an obligatory and punctual person. On account of him such roles as Pushkin, Yesenin and the main dramatic bandit of our time, Sasha Bely. In the film "Match" he plays the goalkeeper Nikolai Ranevich. As colleagues in the picture say, the artist did everything flawlessly and did not spare himself. Bezrukov's coach was Sergei Ovchinnikov, an outstanding Russian goalkeeper. He spoke a lot of good things about his namesake, given the fact that before this film the actor had never stood at the gate. Ovchinnikov noted that the artist jumps at the goal and generally does not behave like a sports goalkeeper, but at the level of stage movement and plasticity, Bezrukov learns everything very quickly. They demanded believability from the actors playing on the field, and they sometimes got so carried away that they could not do without injuries, including those of Bezrukov. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured.

Elizaveta Boyarskaya remarkably played the role of the German language teacher Anna Shevtsova. This character is fictional and has no prototype.

Sergei and Elizabeth perfectly played the love story of their characters. It turned out to be not only very dramatic, but also very touching. Of course, a big role in creating the general atmosphere belongs to the film's operator Sergei Mikhalchuk ("My half-brother Frankenstein", "Lover", "Children under 16 …"), thanks to him all the feelings of the actors are emphasized and enhanced, which is especially clearly reflected in the love scene which takes place on the night of the beginning of the war.

Ekaterina Klimova, like Elizaveta, perfectly coped with her role as Olga Kovtun. Despite the fact that Klimova has a supporting role, in fact, her work on the character is very difficult and independent. This is the image of a woman who received an irreparable psychological trauma (the Nazis shoot the patients of the psychiatric dispensary, her patients). The artist brilliantly showed how her character lives with it. The seven-minute scene after the execution of the charges was played to her without a single word, partners' bases, she was alone in the room. As the filmmakers say, this scene alone is worthy of being a short film. It is a pity, but after editing, she did not enter the film in its entirety.

Excellent Ukrainian and German actors such as Stanislav Boklan, Alexander Kobzar, Ostap Stupka and Dirk Martens took part in the film.
