A paper basket can become an original gift wrapping or have a utilitarian purpose. For example, it can store sewing supplies or knitting yarn. Old newspapers or magazines are suitable for weaving.
It is necessary
- - paper;
- - PVA glue;
- - scissors;
- - stationery knife;
- - acrylic paints;
- - water-based varnish.
Instructions
Step 1
Pick up the material. Almost any paper that is at hand is suitable for weaving a basket. These can be old newspapers or magazines, leftover wallpaper, wrapping paper, or printer paper.
Step 2
Place the sheets of paper in a stack. Cut into long strips of equal width. The size of the blanks can be different, depending on your desire and on the type of product. There is a basic rule, the larger the basket, the wider the strips of paper should be to weave it. Fold the strips in half, then in half again.
Step 3
From the prepared strips, make a cross for the bottom of the basket. Take 4 blanks and put them next to each other, then take 4 more parts, put them perpendicularly and twist them in a checkerboard pattern. That is, braid the parts with the next strip so that it lies on top of the first, then under the second, on top of the third and under the fourth strip of the cross.
Step 4
Weave the next strip so that it goes under the first part of the base, then above it, again under and above the second strip of the base. Weave the rest of the details in the same way in a checkerboard pattern. Place the parts as close to each other as possible so that there are no gaps between them.
Step 5
Next, shape the sides of the basket. To make the basket smoother, use a template of a suitable size, it can be a cardboard or plastic box. Place the template on the braid and fold the base strips up.
Step 6
Take shorter pieces of paper and continue braiding the racks in the same way as the bottom, that is, in a checkerboard pattern. Tighten the strips periodically. When you reach the required size of the walls, pull out the template and arrange the edge of the basket.
Step 7
Draw folds on the uprights on all sides of the basket. Fold them towards the inside of the basket at a 45-degree angle. Put the tip behind the next rack and hide it in the weaves. Bend all ends of the posts in the same way. Carefully cut off excess paper with scissors.
Step 8
To make a paper basket handle, make 3 strips. Weave an ordinary pigtail out of them, straighten the handle. Insert the part into the sides of the basket and fix with glue.
Step 9
Paint the finished basket with acrylics. Then coat with a water-based varnish. To make it stronger, apply 2 layers, and the previous one should dry completely.
